ARUK Thames Valley Network Dementia Research Day

01/07/2022 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Alzheimer's Research UK Logo

The Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) Thames Valley Network Dementia Research Day will consist of talks and poster sessions from 9am until 5pm, and the chance to network and meet with dementia researchers again face to face.

The theme of the day will be building bridges across the network from basic to clinical research, to highlight how collaborations across teams might advance clinical trials in dementia.

The ARUK Thames Valley Network are delighted to have secured as a keynote speaker Richard Haynes, Professor of Renal Medicine and Clinical Trials, from the Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of Oxford. He will give a talk on his experiences of setting up the COVID-19 RECOVERY trial. This trial was set up under enormous pressure to identify treatments that would be beneficial for people hospitalised with COVID-19. Professor Haynes will talk about leveraging the resources of the NHS, the selection of potential treatments, and the lessons learned which can be taken forward to clinical trials in other fields.

We will have talks from network members and will be joined by Joyce Yu from Alzheimer’s Research UK who will tell us more about the charity and the funding opportunities available.

At the end of the event, there will be a drinks reception, and a post event social hosted by the ARUK Thames Valley Network Early Career Researchers representatives.

This event is for ARUK Thames Valley Network members from the University of Oxford, University of Reading and Oxford Brookes University.
