SUMMARY:Turning Science into Hope for Neurodegenerative Diseases
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an Alzheimer’s Research UK public lecture and discover how scientific discoveries are being transformed into promising new treatments & biomarkers in the fight against neurodegenerative diseases. \nFor decades\, progress in developing new biomarkers and treatments for these diseases has been frustratingly slow. However\, we are now entering an exciting new era\, as ground-breaking laboratory discoveries are being transformed into real-world clinical advances. \nJoin us at 6pm on Thursday 16 October for an inspiring and insightful evening. You’re warmly invited to stay for drinks and nibbles afterwards \nSpeakers:\nProfessor Masud Husain\, clinical neurologist\, neuroscientist\, and author\, will give an overview of what an ideal biomarker looks like\, and provide insights into developing biomarkers for dementia based on his own work in the field. \nDr Sam Washer\, works within the Target Discovery Institute and will speak about high-throughput methods that can be used to identify new targets for the development of novel therapies for Alzheimer’s\, and other neurodegenerative diseases. \nDr Mia Callens is a medicinal chemist working in the ARUK Oxford Drug Discovery Institute. She will provide a translational perspective on developing novel therapies once a new target has been identified. \n\n\nThursday 16th October\, 6pm – 7pm (doors open 5:30pm)\nBlakemore Lecture Theatre\, Sherrington Building\nSherrington Road\, OX1 3PT\n\nRegister to Attend
