SUMMARY:Evidence & Implementation Summit 2025
DESCRIPTION:A leading biennial event at the nexus of research\, policy and practice\, the Evidence and Implementation Summit (EIS) seeks to improve lives globally. In 2025\, EIS joins forces with the Implementation Science Health Conference Australia (ISHCA) to present\, for the first time\, a combined global program.  \nThe Summit brings together policymakers\, researchers\, implementation scientists\, program evaluators\, practitioners\, academics\, organisation leaders and funders\, to examine the synthesis\, evaluation\, generation\, translation\, and implementation of research evidence into policy and practice.  \nAt EIS\, we bridge the gap between what we know and what we do. \nWith inequity and misinformation growing worldwide\, closing the ‘know-do’ gap has never been more important or urgent.Your Summit co-hosts in 2025 are the Centre for Evidence and Implementation (CEI) and the Implementation Science Health Conference Australia (ISHCA). \n\n\n\n\nRegister to Attend

SUMMARY:Research Methods Rendezvous
DESCRIPTION:The Research Methods Rendezvous (RMR) is a unique opportunity to explore puzzles\, ideas and questions\, and begin to transform them into research that is important\, feasible and impactful. \nThe RMR is a free\, innovative\, online initiative designed to be a source of inspiration\, a research incubator and a networking opportunity. Based on two half-day intensive sessions in autumn 2025\, the RMR explores two parts of the research process: \n\nI wonder: the curiosity that sparks our research (10 September)\nHow can we: the process of shaping those sparks into tangible projects (29 October)\n\nBetween the sessions\, a seven-week collaboration period enables participants to co-shape the development of ideas. Applications to participate are open until Wednesday\, 2 July 2025. \nRead more about the event below or download a PDF of the full call for participation. \nStructure of the rendezvous\nRendezvous One: I wonder…\n10 September 2025 \nRendezvous One concerns ideation\, the ideas we have as we start to generate our research projects. These come from unfinished questions\, empirical observations\, theoretical intrigues or methodological curiosities. Attendees will get the chance to hear lightning talks from researchers outlining these early-stage ideas. \nView the programme for Rendezvous One \nThe researchers presenting their ideas were selected by NCRM following a contributor application process earlier in 2025. All speakers are active researchers sharing their own early-stage work. \nThe interregnum\n11 September to 28 October 2025 \nDuring this period\, the ideas from Rendezvous One will be developed into sessions for Rendezvous Two. Discussion boards will be hosted on the RMR online platform for each idea presented. \nParticipants will be invited to contribute thoughts\, resources and suggestions. With the contributor’s approval\, you may also have the opportunity to take a more active role\, potentially joining a team developing a Rendezvous Two session. \nRendezvous Two: how can we…\n29 October 2025 \nRendezvous Two concerns how we turn our wonderings into researchable questions. Through 80-minute parallel workshops\, contributors and participants will discuss or co-develop ideas\, exploring methods and next steps\, whether that be developing bid applications\, forming networks or submitting paper proposals. \nFormat for Rendezvous Two\nSessions will typically follow one of the formats below. However\, alternative format suggestions are welcomed. \n\nSpeakers’ corner: Where an individual presenter may want to outline the possibilities of how they can develop their research curiosity into something workable.\nOn the sofa with: Where a session has more than one presenter and aims to generate possibilities through discussion\, with space for audience participation or a Q and A at the end.\nKitchen table: Open to variation in format but a standard approach would be a talk by one or more people and then the chair opens a discussion.\nIn the studio: This can be more creative in design\, but may involve several participants who co-design an event (perhaps using creative methods) to get attendees to join in.\n\nAll sessions in Rendezvous Two will be 80 minutes in length. Sessions will be developed during the interregnum and will be listed on the programme page when details are confirmed. \nLogistics\nThis is a free\, online event. \nWe will be using Whova to host the rendezvous. This is a dedicated online event platform that allows for networking\, polls\, gamification and one-to-one meetings. The platform will be available to participants for the duration of the event (including during the interregnum). \nBoth Rendezvous One and Rendezvous Two will take place in the afternoon on their respective days. \nExpectations\nWe expect delegates to attend both sessions of the rendezvous and actively engage with the online discussions during the interregnum. \nHow to apply to participate\nTo apply for a place at the RMR\, please complete our online application form. \nComplete the RMR application form \nThe application deadline is Wednesday\, 2 July 2025. Attending the event is subject to a successful application. \nHow to contribute\nThe call for contributions is now closed and the speaker line-up has been confirmed. The application deadline was 4 March 2025. \nFurther information\nFor further information\, please contact Sandra Gogacz: sandra.gogacz@manchester.ac.uk

SUMMARY:Biofluid Based Biomarkers in Neuropsychiatric Syndromes - Preclinical Disease
DESCRIPTION:Biofluid Based Biomarkers & Neuropsychiatric Syndromes PIAs: Biofluid Based Biomarkers in Neuropsychiatric Syndromes – The Preclinical Disease Webinar \nBiofluid biomarkers are an increasingly important tool in understanding the early stages of disease. Evidence suggests they may be closely linked with the development and expression of neuropsychiatric syndromes\, including behavioural and mood changes\, across different stages of disease progression. \nThis session will focus on the associations between biofluid biomarkers and behavioural symptoms in preclinical disease. The discussion will highlight the potential for these biomarkers to inform earlier detection\, improve diagnostic accuracy\, and guide intervention strategies before clinical symptoms are fully established. \nParticipants will gain insights into the latest research findings\, methodological approaches\, and the practical implications of integrating biofluid biomarkers into studies of neuropsychiatric syndromes. \nModerators \n\nZahinoor Ismail\nFabricio Ferreira de Oliveira\n\nSpeakers \n\nRaphael Machado Castilhos\nByron Creese\n\nWho Should Attend \nResearchers\, clinicians\, and students interested in dementia\, psychiatry\, neurology\, biomarkers\, and translational approaches to preclinical disease. \nRegister to Attend

SUMMARY:Catchup - Salon Debate - Should Genetic Testing for Dementia Be Routine?
DESCRIPTION:Should everyone over 40 be offered genetic testing for dementia risk? Join Dr Oscar Lazo and Professor Terry Quinn for a live debate on 29 Oct at 8pm GMT and cast your vote. \n\nDebate Motion: \nThis House would make genetic testing for dementia risk available to everyone over 40.\n\nAs interest in personalised medicine grows\, so too does access to genetic risk profiling. But would universal testing empower people with knowledge\, or raise ethical\, psychological\, and practical concerns? Join us to debate whether routine access to dementia risk testing should be part of everyday healthcare. \n\nSpeaker For the Motion:\nDr Oscar Lazo is Research Fellow\, in the UK Dementia Research Institute at University College London. There he has been developing a research programme to use what is known about Rab10 small GTPase and its role in the endosomal plasticity to provide novel therapeutic targets against dementia\, especially in the context of Down Syndrome. \nSpeaker Against the Motion:\nProfessor Terry Quinn is the David Cargill Chair of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Glasgow. His research focuses on stroke\, cognition\, and trial methodology. He leads the Scottish Brain Health ARC\, sits on national and international guideline and review boards\, and works to ensure research informs both clinical practice and policy. \n\nWhat to Expect\nJoin us for a live online debate where our speakers will present opposing views on the continued relevance of animal models in dementia research. The session will include: \n\n10-minute opening statements from each speaker\nModerated discussion\nAudience Q&A\nLive vote before and after the debate to see if opinions shift\n\nWhether you’re firmly for\, firmly against\, or somewhere in between\, come along and be part of the conversation. \n\n\nWatch the Recording
