SUMMARY:Radical Research Ethics - Online
DESCRIPTION:Ethical research is better quality research. This course is designed to raise your awareness of why and how you need to think and act ethically in practice throughout your research work. \nThe current system of ethical review by committee can lead to the misleading sense of having ‘done ethics’. This course shows you how to conduct research which is truly ethical. It also provides the opportunity for discussion of your own ethical dilemmas\, if you wish. \nThe course covers: \n\nResearch ethics in context – ethical breaches past and present\, ethics activism\, trauma-informed research\, debiasing\nPotential ethical pitfalls at each stage of the research process\, from question setting to aftercare\nHow to think and act ethically throughout research\n\nBy the end of the course participants will: \n\nRecognise the importance of context for ethical decision-making\nUnderstand why they need to think and act ethically throughout research work\nBe clearer about potential ethical pitfalls at different stages of the research process\nKnow how to approach ethical thought and action at any point in their research\n\nThis course is aimed at Doctoral students\, early career researchers (any discipline)\, practice-based/applied researchers and possibly government researchers and independent researchers. \nTHIS COURSE IS TAUGHT OVER TWO MORNINGS AND EQUATES TO ONE TEACHING DAY FOR PAYMENT PURPOSES. \nCost: \nThe fee per teaching day is: \n• £60 per day for registered students\n• £150 per day for staff at academic institutions\, Research Councils researchers\, public sector staff\, staff at registered charity organisations and recognised research institutions.\n• £350 per day for all other participants \nIn the event of cancellation by the delegate a full refund of the course fee is available up to two weeks prior to the course. No refunds are available after this date. \nIf it is no longer possible to run a course due to circumstances beyond its control\, NCRM reserves the right to cancel the course at its sole discretion at any time prior to the event. In this event every effort will be made to reschedule the course. If this is not possible or the new date is inconvenient a full refund of the course fee will be given.
