SUMMARY:Genomics of Brain Disorders
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce the 5th conference on the Genomics of Brain Disorders. \nThis meeting will bring together international scientists and clinicians working across psychiatric\, neurodegenerative\, and neurodevelopmental disorders to explore how genetic variation shapes brain function and disease across the lifespan. By integrating perspectives from diverse disease areas\, the conference aims to identify shared principles and emerging insights across brain disorders. \nRecent advances in human genetics\, functional genomics\, and experimental modelling have transformed our understanding of the genetic architecture of brain disorders. Large-scale association studies\, sequencing efforts\, and multi-omic approaches are now revealing when and where genetic risk acts\, and how it converges on molecular pathways\, cell types\, and circuits in the healthy and diseased brain. \nThe programme will highlight these advances by discussing how to move from genetic discoveries to disease insight and by showcasing new tools and technologies to decode brain disorders. Sessions will also address applications to patient stratification and clinical trials\, as well as the translation of genetic findings into high-quality therapeutic targets. Together\, these discussions will explore how genomics is reshaping our understanding of brain disorders and accelerating the path from discovery to clinical impact. \nThe conference will feature invited talks from world-leading experts\, short talks and posters selected from abstracts\, and interactive networking sessions designed to spark discussion and foster new collaborations. \n\nRegistration deadline: 18 August (in person) | 8 September 2026 (virtual) \nAll deadlines are at 11:59 pm (UK time).

SUMMARY:Alzheimer Scotland Annual Conference 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Alzheimer’ Scotland Annual Conference 2026 will be held on Friday 18 September at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC). As always\, our conference is a great opportunity to hear from a range of engaging speakers\, network and make new friends\, and visit our marketplace with a variety of information stands. \nContinuing on from Dementia Awareness Week\, our conference theme is ‘Better Care\, Full Stop’ which builds on our recent campaigning work. \nProgramme for the day (10am-4.30pm)\n\nThe event will be opened by members of our Active Voice groups. This will be followed by a keynote speech from our Chief Executive Henry Simmons. \nThe conference will have three sessions: \n\nSession 1 –  Better care and policy: Why change today could transform tomorrow\nSession 2 – Innovations in practice: The creative approaches changing the national and international landscape\nSession 3 – Looking forward: How research is giving us hope for better care\n\nThere will also be a special lunchtime discussion session that attendees can participate in about the changes needed to improve dementia care and support across Scotland. \nA full programme will be available in the coming weeks. \n\nAs always\, tickets for people with dementia and carers are free – please email conference@alzscot.org for more information about free tickets. \nClick Here

SUMMARY:UCL200 Dementia Research Showcase
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a screening of BBC documentary Jennings vs Alzheimer’s as part of the UCL200 Dementia Research Showcase. \n\n\n\n\nAs part of the UCL200 bicentennial celebrations\, we will be screening the BBC documentary The Jennings vs Alzheimer’s\, which explores the discoveries made by researchers at UCL and UCLH that have given hope for Alzheimer’s disease over the past four decades\, and the very special family that helped make it happen. \nThis will be followed by a Q&A session with Stuart Jennings\, Professor Nick Fox (Director of the UCL’s Dementia Research Centre) and Professor Cath Mummery (Head of Clinical Trials at UCL’s Dementia Research Centre). \nThe screening follows the UCL200 Dementia Research Showcase which will highlight the breadth and impact of dementia research at UCL – past\, present and future – through interactive booths from research groups around the university. \nTo register for the UCL200 Dementia Research Showcase\, please sign up here. \n\nRegister – https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ucl200-dementia-research-showcase-bbc-jennings-vs-alzheimers-screening-tickets-1985385744206?aff=oddtdtcreator
