SUMMARY:EFAR Conference on the Biology of Aging
DESCRIPTION:The first Conference of the European Federation for Aging Research will bring together researchers from across Europe and beyond to discuss the biological processes that shape ageing\, longevity and age-related disease. \nTaking place in Cologne\, the conference aims to encourage scientific exchange\, strengthen collaboration between Europe’s ageing research communities and support early career researchers entering the field. \nAbout the conference\nThe European Federation for Aging Research was established by the German Society for Aging Research\, the Dutch Society for Research on Ageing\, Nordic Aging and the British Society for Research on Ageing. \nEFAR aims to connect researchers across Europe\, promote ageing research\, support the development of younger scientists and encourage policies that strengthen the field. Further national ageing research societies are also expected to join the federation. \nFor dementia and neurodegeneration researchers\, the meeting may be particularly relevant to those investigating the biological mechanisms that connect ageing with cognitive decline\, cellular dysfunction and age-related disease. \nProgramme\nThe scientific programme will include six main conference sessions featuring invited speakers and presentations selected from submitted abstracts. \nThe conference will open on Wednesday 14 October\, followed by two scientific sessions and an evening poster session with food and refreshments. Thursday will include three further scientific sessions and an EFAR members’ meeting. The final session will take place on Friday morning\, followed by concluding remarks and the presentation of poster prizes. \nEarly career researchers were particularly encouraged to submit abstracts for talks and posters. SUMMARY:Embedding PPI in Grant Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Brighton and Sussex Medical School invites you to join our workshop focusing on embedding meaningful Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) in research grant applications. \nDuring the session\, Senior Academic Researchers from Brighton and Sussex Medical School and the University of Sussex will share their experiences of integrating PPI into research projects from the earliest stages of development. They will discuss practical approaches to meaningful community involvement and demonstrate how these activities have strengthened successful grant applications. \nThe workshop aims to support researchers in planning\, delivering and effectively reporting on PPI activities within their own projects\, with a view to specifically helping them to develop stronger grant applications. As meaningful PPI is now an expected component of most funding applications\, this session will offer practical insights into how to demonstrate the value and impact of involvement activities in grant proposals. \nPlease note this meeting will be hybrid.
