SUMMARY:Caribbean Brain Health Summit 2026
DESCRIPTION:Amagi Health is launching the Caribbean Brain Health Summit\, a week-long regional convening on brain health\, dementia and ageing\, based in Kingston\, Jamaica\, with activities across the Caribbean and its diaspora. \nThe summit marks the first year of a new regional initiative to put dementia\, ageing and brain health at the centre of Caribbean policy and practice. Rather than importing a model from elsewhere\, the aim is to surface and connect the work Caribbean people and organisations are already doing\, then build shared regional infrastructure to support it. \nIt’s deliberately broad. Alongside researchers and clinicians\, it brings in voices from business\, technology\, the creative sector\, civil society and communities\, including people living with dementia and carers managing care across islands and continents. Anchor activities will run in host countries and diaspora hubs\, supported by local organisations. \nWhy it matters for researchers\nThe Caribbean is ageing fast\, and it’s under-represented in global conversations about brain health and dementia. If your work touches on African Caribbean populations\, health inequalities or dementia risk reduction\, this is a chance to connect with the people building the region’s research and policy agenda from the ground up. \nThe summit is the public-facing start of the programme. A scientific meeting follows in Kingston in February 2027: the Population-Level Approaches to Dementia Risk Reduction (PLADRR) Meeting\, bringing together researchers\, clinicians and policymakers. It builds on the PLADRR meeting in Auckland in February 2025 and on the NIA and University of Michigan HCAP infrastructure\, with a focus on Caribbean and Caribbean diaspora researchers and early career researchers. SUMMARY:Qualitative AI Course: Generative AI in NVivo and MAXQDA
DESCRIPTION:How do you bring generative AI into qualitative analysis without letting the tools drive the method? This hands-on online course from NCRM shows you how to integrate AI capabilities into established qualitative software\, and what that means for your practice. \nThis is Module 3 of NCRM’s Navigating Qualitative AI course\, led by Dr Christina Silver. Through demonstrations\, guided exercises and discussion\, you’ll work with sample data to explore a series of analytic tasks\, and consider the methodological implications of using AI with different types of data and at different stages of qualitative analysis. The focus is on existing qualitative software\, using NVivo and MAXQDA as the core examples. \nSession 1: Principles of integrating AI tools into qualitative analysis (16 November\, 13:30–16:45) \n\nOverview of what established qualitative software can do\, with and without AI\nMaking sure your analytic methods drive the use of AI tools\nHands-on exercises using NVivo\n\nSession 2: Exploring MAXQDA’s AI tools for qualitative analysis (18 November\, 13:30–16:45) \n\nOverview of MAXQDA’s tools\nHands-on exercises bringing AI into a qualitative analysis process\, using literature\, transcripts and open-ended survey responses\n\nBy the end of the course participants will: \n\nUnderstand where AI tools can be used at different stages of the qualitative analysis workflow\nUnderstand the methodological consequences of using AI tools\, both the potential and the risks\nIdentify ways of using AI tools that keep the approach human-centred\n\nThe course is aimed at students and researchers interested in qualitative analysis\, in any sector or discipline. It is pitched at intermediate level. \nYou must have completed Module 1 before taking this module.
