SUMMARY:Bridges Dementia Network+ Annual Conference
DESCRIPTION:The BRIDGES for Dementia Network+ is a national research initiative bringing together people with lived experience of dementia\, researchers\, designers\, and health professionals. \nOur goal is to rethink how technology can help people with dementia live full\, independent\, and connected lives. By combining expertise from arts\, health\, social care\, and technology\, we’ll co-design practical solutions that make a real difference to everyday life. \nWe would like to invite people with dementia\, researchers\, and representatives from different sectors to exchange their knowledge and experience to help improve the lives of those living with dementia. The conference is open to researchers\, universities\, industry\, charities\, and people with lived experience of dementia. \nThe conference will include updates on BRIDGES activities\, interactive sessions\, and technology demonstrations. We will also present opportunities to be involved in future funding calls and research. \nWho this event is for:\n\nWe would welcome members of the general public who have experience of supporting people living with dementia\, or who are living with dementia themselves.\nThe event is also open to researchers\, healthcare practitioners\, service providers\, or representatives of technology companies.\n\nAttendance is free\, but our room capacity is limited to 125 people. \nIn addition to the main conference\, we are running three parallel sessions. More details are available below. \nExhibition: We will have a number of partners who will be exhibiting their work and technology. Delegates are welcome to select one of the three to take part in. \nPlaces are limited for the Experiential Workshop and Early Career Researcher masterclass\, so places will be allocated on a first-come\, first-served basis by emailing bridgesfordementia@sheffield.ac.uk. \n\nParallel Session 1: Technical presentations by the wider research community- A series of talks will present to delegates the most recent research on different areas of technology and how they might impact the lives of people living with dementia.\n\n\nParallel Session 2: Experiential workshop on communication- In this interactive and experiential workshop\, Grace Stead from Enrichment for the Elderly will help researchers and practitioners experience how communication may be affected by dementia. Participants will learn how to communicate more effectively with people living with dementia\, how to make technological solutions more inclusive and how to best include people with dementia in activities. Places are limited to 20 participants.\n\n\nParallel Session 3: Early Career Researcher (ECR) masterclass- In this workshop chaired by Rachael Litherland from Innovations in Dementia\, ECRs are invited to present their research ideas to a panel composed of people with lived experience of dementia. The panel will provide feedback on your idea from the perspective of people affected by dementia. There will be an opportunity for you to ask specific questions that you would find it useful to have a lived experience viewpoint on. DESCRIPTION:Conference theme: Collaboration\, connection and community  \nWe are delighted to confirm that the next NIHR School for Social Care Research (SSCR) Annual Conference will be held in Bristol in September 2026. \nFollowing on from last year’s conference in York\, this conference will once again bring together researchers and a broad range of key partners\, collaborators and people with lived/ living experience to share evidence and on-going research in social care practice. The conference provides a valuable opportunity to network and hear about leading social care research including SSCR’s commissioned studies and the broader NIHR programme offer. \n\nDates and venue \n\nWednesday 16 and Thursday 17 September 2026\nWe The Curious\, One Millennium Square\, Anchor Road\, Bristol\, BS1 5DB\nVenue website\n\n\nCall for abstracts \nAbstract submissions for consideration are welcomed from across the full breadth of social care research and eligibility to submit is not limited to researchers/ institutions who are members of the current phase of the School. \nAbstracts from researchers at all career stages (including PhD students) are encouraged\, as are submissions from across the Three Schools programmes where significant social care elements are evident. SUMMARY:Genomics of Brain Disorders
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce the 5th conference on the Genomics of Brain Disorders. \nThis meeting will bring together international scientists and clinicians working across psychiatric\, neurodegenerative\, and neurodevelopmental disorders to explore how genetic variation shapes brain function and disease across the lifespan. By integrating perspectives from diverse disease areas\, the conference aims to identify shared principles and emerging insights across brain disorders. \nRecent advances in human genetics\, functional genomics\, and experimental modelling have transformed our understanding of the genetic architecture of brain disorders. Large-scale association studies\, sequencing efforts\, and multi-omic approaches are now revealing when and where genetic risk acts\, and how it converges on molecular pathways\, cell types\, and circuits in the healthy and diseased brain. \nThe programme will highlight these advances by discussing how to move from genetic discoveries to disease insight and by showcasing new tools and technologies to decode brain disorders. Sessions will also address applications to patient stratification and clinical trials\, as well as the translation of genetic findings into high-quality therapeutic targets. Together\, these discussions will explore how genomics is reshaping our understanding of brain disorders and accelerating the path from discovery to clinical impact. \nThe conference will feature invited talks from world-leading experts\, short talks and posters selected from abstracts\, and interactive networking sessions designed to spark discussion and foster new collaborations. \n\nRegistration deadline: 18 August (in person) | 8 September 2026 (virtual) \nAll deadlines are at 11:59 pm (UK time).

SUMMARY:Alzheimer Scotland Annual Conference 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Alzheimer’ Scotland Annual Conference 2026 will be held on Friday 18 September at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC). As always\, our conference is a great opportunity to hear from a range of engaging speakers\, network and make new friends\, and visit our marketplace with a variety of information stands. \nContinuing on from Dementia Awareness Week\, our conference theme is ‘Better Care\, Full Stop’ which builds on our recent campaigning work. \nProgramme for the day (10am-4.30pm)\n\nThe event will be opened by members of our Active Voice groups.
