SUMMARY:UKARFF Early Career Researcher Event
DESCRIPTION:Join us (Vivensa Foundation) to explore the latest advancements in ageing-related research and connect with fellow researchers funded by members of UKARFF. \n\n\n\n\nThe UK Ageing Research Funders’ Forum (UKARFF) are delighted to announce their 2026 Early Career Researcher* (ECR) event. Join us in-person 9:30-17:00 on Monday 23rd November 2026 at the Health Foundation\, Central London. This is a unique opportunity to explore the latest advancements in ageing-related research and connect with fellow researchers within the UKARFF community. For details on last year’s event please click here. \nUKARFF comprises organisations dedicated to funding research that enhances our understanding of the mechanisms of ageing\, addresses age-related diseases and improves health and social care for older adults. This event co-organised by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC)\, Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)\, Health Foundation and Vivensa Foundation. \nPlease note: By completing this registration process you are registering your interest to attend. We will be in contact to confirm if you have been allocated a place by 16th October 2026. Please do not book travel until we have confirmed your attendance. \nThe day will feature a funders’ panel discussion and a keynote speaker\, as well as engaging talks and poster presentations showcasing the latest ageing-related research from your peers. You’ll also have plenty of opportunities to network and connect with fellow researchers. For a detailed agenda\, please refer to the information below. \nThe event is free** and the registration deadline is Wednesday\, 30th September 2026. Due to the venue’s limited capacity\, this event is for ECRs* in the ageing field\, and priority will be given to those that are funded by UKARFF members and who are willing to present their work\, either as a poster or a talk. \nAs part of the registration process\, attendees are invited to nominate themselves to present their work. UKARFF member representatives will review submissions and select posters/talks to ensure a diverse representation of topics\, UKARFF-funded studies\, career stages and speakers***. The deadline to submit a title and abstract is also Wednesday\, 30th September 2026 and we’ll be in contact well ahead of the event to let you know if you have been selected for a poster or talk. You may also submit questions for the funder panel discussion in advance\, with further opportunities to submit questions on the day. \nWe are grateful to the Macular Society for sponsoring this year’s prizes for the best poster and best talk. Each prize will help fund the winner to present their work at a conference relevant to their research. \nPlease note: The registration process will only be finalised once the form is fully completed (i.e. all questions answered). \n* By early career researcher\, we refer to final year PhD students and postdoctoral researchers with up to ten years’ research experience\, taking into account any career breaks\, parental leave\, and the impacts of COVID-19. \n** Costs of travel to the event for early career researchers should be covered by attendees’ respective funders\, where there is no other means to claim these back – attendees intending to claim travel costs should confirm these with their funder(s) prior to booking travel.
