SUMMARY:Cell Symposia: Multifaceted mitochondria
DESCRIPTION:Mitochondria are metabolic and signaling hubs involved in multi-system processes spanning from cellular bioenergetics to organismal homeostasis. Their multifaceted functions put them at the center of research efforts to better understand cellular metabolism and communication and to develop novel therapeutic approaches for a broad range of processes including cardiometabolic disorders\, immune responses\, aging\, and cancer. \n\n\nThis symposium aims to reflect the variety in mitochondrial research\, providing engaging and forward-looking talks on mitochondrial bioenergetics and dynamics\, their mechanisms of homeostasis and stress signaling\, their function in intra- and inter-cellular communication\, and their role in metabolism\, disease\, and therapy. \nWe hope to bring together scientists working on these diverse topics to address the open questions of the field and advance the study of mitochondrial biology. \nThemes: \n\nMitochondrial biochemistry and bioenergetics\nMitochondria homeostasis and stress response\nMitochondrial dynamics and transfer\nMitochondrial communication\nMitochondria in metabolism\nMitochondria in inflammation and disease\n\nRegister\n\nAbstract submission deadline: February 13\, 2026 \nSubmit abstract here

SUMMARY:Endosomal-lysosomal network dysfunction in neurodegeneration
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 Harden Conference on ‘Endosomal-lysosomal Network Dysfunction in Neurodegeneration’ will be the first focused UK based conference bringing together world-leading researchers in endosomal-lysosomal biology and neurodegenerative research. \nAlterations in the endosomal-lysosomal system are emerging as key features underlying pathogenesis in several neurodegenerative and neurological disorders\, and has generated significant interest as to whether this pathway can be targeted for early-stage diagnostics and therapeutics. \nThis meeting aims to generate new insight into the latest advances in the endosomal-lysosomal system to enhance the rate of discovery in neurodegenerative research. Researchers from all career stages across the academic and industrial sectors will come together to exchange ideas\, share cutting edge methodologies and technical knowledge\, and formulate new collaborations. This meeting will also facilitate the establishment of an ongoing network of researchers interested in the endosomal-lysosomal system to push forward diagnostic and therapeutic strategies in this rapidly moving area of research. \nSession Topics:\nSession 1: Endosomal-lysosomal membrane organisation\nSession 2: Organellar Crosstalk between the endosomal lysosomal network\nSession 3: Cutting edge methodologies for investigating the endosomal lysosomal network\nSession 4: Endosomal-lysosomal dysfunction in neurodegeneration\nSession 5: Proteostasis and protein pathology\nSession 6: Non-neuronal mechanisms for neurodegeneration \nPanel Sessions:\nPanel Discussion: Biomarkers and therapeutic targets/strategies for the endo-lysosomal pathway\nPanel Dicussion: Experimental assessment of endocytic biology – pitfalls\, new and better methods\nCareer Development sessions \nProgramme Coordinators:\nNatalie Connor-Robson\, Cardiff University\nPete Cullen\, Bristol University\nKirsty McMillan\, University of Liverpool \nOral communication slots are available at this meeting. All attendees\, particularly researchers in the early stages of their career\, are invited to submit a poster abstract for consideration as an oral communication. \nRegister to Attend
