SUMMARY:Creative Approaches in Dementia Research
DESCRIPTION:Join the EMPOWER Dementia Network+ for an interactive workshop exploring the use of creative methods in dementia research. \n\n\n\n\nCreative methods such as photography\, film\, sound\, storytelling\, object handling and other arts based approaches can provide new ways of exploring and understanding the experiences of people living with dementia and those who care for them. They can also support meaningful participation\, co-production\, engagement and knowledge exchange. \nDuring the event\, we will explore creative research methods through practical\, interactive activities followed by hearing about the project\, Seen and Heard: The Role of Sound and Moving Image to Connect People with Dementia Within\, Outwards and Across Generations. \nThe day will include: \n\nAn introduction to creative research methods and discussion of their benefits and challenges\nInteractive workshops exploring different creative methods\, including photobooks\, object handling and a selection of other approaches\nOpportunities to share experiences and discuss how creative methods could be used in dementia research\nLunch and networking\nA presentation on the Seen and Heard project\nCollaborative development of a physical Creative Methods Toolkit\, where participants can contribute ideas and suggestions throughout the day\n\nAll are welcome\, including researchers\, community organisations\, people living with dementia\, family members and carers\, health and social care professionals\, practitioners\, and anyone interested in dementia research and creative approaches. \nWe look forward to seeing you in October. \n\nRegister

SUMMARY:Embedding PPI in Grant Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Brighton and Sussex Medical School invites you to join our workshop focusing on embedding meaningful Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) in research grant applications. \nDuring the session\, Senior Academic Researchers from Brighton and Sussex Medical School and the University of Sussex will share their experiences of integrating PPI into research projects from the earliest stages of development. They will discuss practical approaches to meaningful community involvement and demonstrate how these activities have strengthened successful grant applications. \nThe workshop aims to support researchers in planning\, delivering and effectively reporting on PPI activities within their own projects\, with a view to specifically helping them to develop stronger grant applications. As meaningful PPI is now an expected component of most funding applications\, this session will offer practical insights into how to demonstrate the value and impact of involvement activities in grant proposals. \nPlease note this meeting will be hybrid.
