Her work also explores how to increase engagement in physical activity\, addressing one of the key challenges in translating evidence into real world impact. \nMarta is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Kentucky\, with a background in clinical psychology and neuropsychology. DESCRIPTION:Save the Date for TDP43 Summit 2026 – May 21\, 2026 in Madison\, Wisconsin \n\nWe invite researchers to submit abstracts for for new and emerging data on biomarkers for TDP43. Our goal is to feature cutting-edge research\, with a preference for unpublished or recently published findings that advance our understanding of TDP43 pathology and detection\, co-pathology with AD or other closely aligned topics.\n\nA selection of top applicants will be invited to give an oral presentation during the summit.  \nApplication Process\n\nApplicants are asked to submit a ~250-word abstract describing their research. Tables and figures are welcome and encouraged. Submissions will be reviewed based on scientific merit and relevance\, with priority given to novel data. SUMMARY:Cognitive Rejuvenation through OSK
DESCRIPTION:Restoring seemingly lost bodily functions in age and age-related disorders has\, over recent years\, transitioned from the realm of science fiction to tangible research questions with high translational potential. Among the available approaches\, partial cellular reprogramming has emerged as one of the most promising strategies to promote tissue regeneration and restore cellular function\, while at the same time preserving cellular identities. However\, whether this approach bears fruit to rejuvenate cognitive processes has remained unknown until recently. \nIn this talk\, Prof. Johannes Gräff will highlight recent findings from his laboratory\, which show that partial reprogramming of engram neurons – bona fide memory trace cells – by OSK-mediated gene therapy leads to cognitive rejuvenation. This intervention reverses the expression of senescence and disease-related cellular hallmarks in aged mice and models of Alzheimer’s disease (AD)\, re-establishes aberrant epigenetic-transcriptional patterns pertaining to synaptic plasticity and counteracts AD-typical neuronal hyperexcitability. Importantly\, irrespective of the brain area targeted or the behavioural paradigm employed\, engram reprogramming also restores learning and memory capacities to levels comparable of healthy young animals. DESCRIPTION:This NCRM online workshop aims to give participants a range of practical approaches they can adopt when writing about methodology in the social sciences\, with a particular focus on writing a PhD methodology chapter. \nUsing a range of exercises throughout\, the course focuses on 20 or so writing strategies and thought experiments designed to provide more clarity and power to the often-difficult challenge of writing about methods. The course also looks at common mistakes and how to avoid them when writing about methods. You will also hear the latest from  the Office for Life Sciences. \nRigorously researched and knowledge-led\, our practical event examines key aspects of the Government’s Life Sciences Sector Plan\, published last Summer.  The Government’s ambitious policies are aimed at driving improvements in healthcare\, focussing on innovation and research\, to deliver economic growth in the process. So\, how can the UK become a ‘life sciences superpower’? \nLife Science is worth £108 billion to the economy\, providing over 300\,000 highly skilled jobs across the country.  It spans the NHS and community\, industry\, government\, science\, education\, and more. DESCRIPTION:How do prior knowledge and new experiences shape the way we learn. And what happens to these processes as we age or develop dementia. \nThis livestream is part of the Dementia Researcher weekly Showcase series. Each week we host a 45 minute online session bringing researchers together to share their work\, methods\, and ideas. \nIn this session\, Dr Dorothy Tse will present her research on how prior knowledge and novelty influence learning and memory formation. Her work explores how these processes are affected by ageing and dementia\, and how they relate to changes in brain function. \nDorothy develops behavioural paradigms that bridge animal and human research\, supporting translational approaches to understanding memory. Alongside this\, she works with community organisations and charities to co create projects that promote healthy ageing and brain health. \nDorothy is a Reader in Cognitive Neuroscience at Edge Hill University\, specialising in learning\, memory\, and translational neuroscience. \nAttendees can expect a research focused session with time for questions and discussion. \n\nRegister
