SUMMARY:Synergy for Science 2026
DESCRIPTION:Throughout history\, scientific endeavours have traditionally been compartmentalized into disciplines\, where like-minded researchers converge to address specific problems from a shared perspective. This approach has undeniably facilitated focused research\, hastened the pace of discoveries and contributed to the major breakthroughs of the last century. However\, an unintended consequence of this specialization has been the development of specialized languages and a sense of belonging within these disciplinary communities\, ultimately fostering impermeable knowledge silos across the entire scientific landscape.  \nWhile the establishment of disciplinary boundaries has played a crucial role in shaping our modern society\, there is now a recognized imperative to transcend these boundaries and confront the substantial challenges facing our globalized world. The emergence of interdisciplinary science represents a departure from the norm\, driven by courageous scientists eager to construct cultural bridges between disparate communities. Pioneers of interdisciplinary science have achieved remarkable results\, powered by their unique perspectives. However\, while the intersection at the heart of interdisciplinary science is inherently dynamic\, signifying its vitality\, the downside lies in its relatively modest scale. When extracted from their original environments\, interdisciplinary communities frequently struggle to attain the critical mass necessary for a lasting impact on our evolving society. \nSynSci26 will mark the inaugural conference set to take place in Glasgow in July 2026. With the subtitle “Meeting for a Healthier Future\,” this event aims to bring together diverse communities to collectively address the mandate of the third Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) outlined by the United Nations. By emphasizing collaboration and innovative approaches\, SynSci26 seeks to contribute meaningfully to the pursuit of a healthier\, more sustainable future. We invite scientists\, researchers\, and thought leaders from various disciplines to be part of this historic occasion\, breaking down barriers and shaping a brighter\, healthier world through interdisciplinary science. Together\, let us pave the way for future SynSci conferences that continue to make significant strides in addressing global challenges. \n\nRegister

In a milieu of intense competition for limited research funding\, the following skills are crucial for clinicians and public health researchers: \n\n\n\n\n(a) frame a clear clinical or public health problem;\n(b) propose a rigorous and feasible methodology/approach;\n(c) articulate clear and precise outcomes and impact and\n(d) convincingly communicate all these within the word- or page-limit is essential. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the workshop\n\n\n\n\nThis 5-day in-person workshop on grant writing will not only equip participants with the aforementioned skills but also provide an opportunity to seek guidance on their proposals from seasoned researchers with a track record of securing funding from national and international donors\, as well as to interact with grantors and grantees. The workshop will comprise a mix of short lectures\, practical exercises\, small-group work\, one-on-one mentoring sessions\, and panel discussions with funders and grant recipients. Participants will also have dedicated time to work on their proposal and receive feedback. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho should apply?\n\n\n\n\nThis workshop is designed for early- and mid-career clinician-scientists and public health researchers based in India who are interested in applying for grants to national or international funding agencies within the next 6-12 months. We particularly welcome applications from those who have not been successful in securing research funding in the past. We welcome applicants from diverse clinical and public health domains (non-communicable diseases\, multiple long-term conditions\, mental health\, digital health\, implementation science\, maternal and child health\, health systems\, environmental health\, etc.). \n\n\n\n\n\n\nKey learnings & Outcomes\n\n\n\n\nBy the end of the workshop\, participants will be able to \n\n\n\n\n\nUnderstand the grant funding landscape for clinical and public health research in India and globally\nDevelop a clear problem statement\nDraft compelling\, specific aims/objectives\nDesign robust methods and implementation plans\nPrepare realistic budgets and work plans\nAddress ethics\, equity\, and community engagement\nReceive individualised feedback on their draft proposal from experienced mentors\n\n\n\n\n\nDevelop a near-ready concept note or mini-proposal for a future grant call \n\n\n\n\n\n\nDuration of the workshop\n\n\n\n\n5 days (August 17-21\, 2026) \n\n\n\n\n\n\nFee to attend the workshop:\n\n\n\n\nThe workshop is free of cost to attend for all participants. A limited number of bursaries are available to support travel to and/or stay in Kochi. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow to apply?\n\n\n\n\nInterested candidates should apply through this link before 5.00 PM on June 25\, 2026. SUMMARY:European Meeting on Imaging in Neurodegeneration
DESCRIPTION:EU-MIND (European Meeting on Imaging in Neurodegeneration) is a European scientific conference dedicated to neuroimaging in neurodegenerative diseases. Initiated by the collective vision of Gaël Chételat\, Julie Gonneaud\, and Robin de Flores from the Inserm Neuropresage Lab (Caen\, France)\, and co-founded by the Fondation Alzheimer\, EU-MIND was born from the need to build a more connected\, visible\, and well-defined European research community in this specialized field. \nThe first edition took place in Caen\, France\, in September 2024\, and was a great success\, bringing together researchers\, clinicians\, and early-career scientists from across Europe. Driven by values of collaboration\, diversity\, and scientific excellence\, EU-MIND is now held every two years in a different European city. \nJoin us in shaping the future of neuroimaging research in neurodegenerative diseases! \nRegister\n\nWhy such a congress?\n\nUnprecedented focus: EU-MIND is dedicated exclusively to neuroimaging in neurodegenerative diseases\, bringing together the European community working on this vital subject.\nNetworking and collaboration: Get in touch with top-level researchers\, clinicians and experts in a dynamic\, interdisciplinary environment.\nScientific excellence: EU-MIND aims to be at the forefront of research in the field of neuroimaging and neurodegenerative diseases\, including Alzheimer’s disease.\nAdvancing research: by bringing together leading experts in the field to discuss and collaborate on current topics and issues\, EU-MIND hope to provide the ideal breeding ground for major advances in the understanding\, prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.\nSupporting and promoting young researchers in/from Europe\n\nInitiated by the Neuropresage team of the Inserm Caen U1237 unit and organized by the EU-MIND Scientific Committee\, the first edition of EU-MIND is supported by the Fondation Alzheimer. \nOrigins of the congress\nThe inception of EU-MIND was ignited by the collective vision of Gael Chetelat\, Julie Gonneaud\, and Robin de Flores from the Neuropresage team (Caen\, France). Recognizing a conspicuous void within the European neuroimaging community\, they discerned the absence of a dedicated platform for experts in neurodegenerative diseases. Motivated by this observation\, they felt a compelling need to bridge this gap and establish an exclusive forum where researchers\, clinicians\, and engineers across Europe could convene\, exchange insights\, and foster collaborations. EU-MIND emerged organically as the response to this imperative\, paving the way towards a more interconnected and impactful European research landscape in neuroimaging of neurodegenerative diseases. \nWhat is the role of the Fondation Alzheimer ?\nThe Fondation Alzheimer is a private funding organization dedicated to supporting Alzheimer’s research\, innovation\, and prevention efforts at the national\, European\, and international levels. One of its primary objectives is to address gaps in high-priority research areas. \nGiven that neuroimaging in neurodegenerative diseases offers significant advancements in understanding pathophysiology\, diagnosing\, and treating Alzheimer’s disease\, the Fondation Alzheimer plays a pivotal role in shaping in the EU-MIND initiative. \nThe foundation actively contributes its expertise by participating in strategic vision and serving on the Scientific Committee. Moreover\, it provides substantial financial support to cover conference expenses\, travel grants\, and other necessities. \nThe Fondation Alzheimer takes pride in being an early founder of EU-MIND\, ensuring its sustainability\, attractiveness\, and excellence. \n\nABSTRACT SUBMISSION AND TRAVEL AWARDS\n\nWe are inviting abstract submissions for symposium and/or poster presentations at EU-MIND 2026\, focusing on neuroimaging of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. \nWe seek original\, ongoing works and preliminary results. New findings are preferred\, but we also welcome updates to prior works or those presented elsewhere before EU-MIND. Abstracts should not be published as a journal article prior to the conference. \nIf you submit an abstract\, you can apply for a travel award (see below). \nWhen submitting your abstract\, please consider: \nSymposium\nTo be eligible for an oral presentation (~15 min) in a symposium\, your work must be within the following topics: \n\nThe role of sleep in neurodegenerative disorders\n Artificial intelligence and machine learning\nTherapeutic interventions and neuroimaging\nImaging Methods\nNon-Alzheimer’s disease /polypathology\nOmics & connectomics\n\nThe selection will be based on the abstract review scores. \nPoster\nThe selection will be based on the abstract review scores. In addition\, you have the option to be considered for the poster award competition. Poster rating will occur during the conference poster sessions. \nYou may also opt to be considered for a Datablitz presentation (a ~3 min oral “teaser” to highlight your poster). Selection will be based on abstract review scores. Please note that there are no topic restrictions for Datablitz presentations\, and be advised that as we have limited space so not all submissions may be accepted. \nYou will be asked whether you’d liked to be considered for any (or all) of these (travel awards\, datablitz\, oral presentation and poster award competition) directly in the abstract submission form. \nAttendance\nThe presenting author should attend in-person for poster\, datablitz and symposia presentations. \nDeadline: March 20th \n\nSubmit an Abstract

SUMMARY:Barcelona Blood-Brain Barrier Conference – B4 2026
DESCRIPTION:The blood-brain barrier (BBB) separates the blood circulation from the brain tissue. However\, despite its name\, the BBB is far from a static\, impenetrable barrier. Instead\, this highly dynamic structure responds to and regulates the complex requirements of brain function. \nTo advance our knowledge of how the BBB impacts health and disease\, the 3rd edition of the Barcelona Blood-Brain Barrier Conference will bring together scientists from across the globe to discuss emerging topics in BBB physiology\, pathology and translational research. This interdisciplinary event will incorporate neuroscience\, vascular biology\, protein engineering\, bioengineering\, and nanomedicine to provide a unique platform to foster collaboration and address challenges shaping the future of this field. \nIn the name of the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) and the Institut Químic de Sarrià (IQS)\, we look forward to welcoming you to the vibrant and historic city of Barcelona to take part in these lively discussions\, make lasting connections\, and push the boundaries of the field forward. \nEvent Details
