SUMMARY:AD/PD Conference 2027
DESCRIPTION:AD/PD 2027\, the International Conference on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases and related neurological disorders\, runs from 16 to 20 March 2027 in Barcelona and online. Late-breaking abstracts are open until 18 November. \nAD/PD™ is one of the main events of the year in neurodegeneration research\, bringing clinicians and basic scientists from around the world together in one place. What sets it apart is that it puts Alzheimer’s\, Parkinson’s and related disorders side by side\, and looks at what they share and where they differ. \nThe 2027 programme runs from basic science through to translational and clinical research: disease mechanisms and protein aggregation\, phase I–III clinical trials\, fluid biomarkers and neuroimaging for early detection\, drug discovery\, new therapies including gene therapy and immunotherapy\, and prevention and risk factors. The meeting is hybrid\, held at the International Barcelona Convention Center with online attendance available. \nLate-breaking abstracts for AD/PD 2027\nThe main abstract deadline has passed\, with notifications due in mid-October\, but late-breaking submission is open until Wednesday 18 November 2026 at midnight CET. Accepted authors will hear by 2 December 2026. \nAbstracts must report unpublished data that hasn’t been presented before\, run to no more than 280 words\, and follow an Objectives\, Methods\, Results\, Conclusions structure. Each person can present up to five posters and one oral presentation\, and the presenting author must be listed first and must register for the conference. There is no embargo policy\, so you are free to share your work within your networks. \nOne thing for early career researchers to note: the Junior Faculty Awards are not open to late-breaking submissions\, as this year’s winners have already been announced. If you are putting an abstract together\, our guide on how to write a powerful conference abstract is a good place to start. \nPlenary speakers\n\nRandall Bateman (USA): Don Price Memorial Lecture\, on Alzheimer’s treatment\, blood tests\, prevention\, brain ageing and AI-powered discovery.\nHenrik Zetterberg (Sweden): fluid biomarkers for tau pathophysiology in Alzheimer’s disease.\nBrit Mollenhauer (Germany): multimodal biomarkers for prevention trials in Parkinson’s.\nBradley Hyman (USA): Eric N. Birch Memorial Lecture\, on the molecular pathology of Lewy body diseases.\nRosa Rademakers (Belgium): whether genetics can crack neurodegeneration\, from discovery to disease modification.\nCostantino Iadecola (USA): how the neurovasculature shapes neurodegeneration.\nBeth Stevens (USA): how brain macrophages shape cognitive resilience and vulnerability in ageing and disease.\n\nKey dates\n\nMid-October 2026: notifications to abstract submitters\n18 November 2026: late-breaking abstract deadline (midnight CET)\n2 December 2026: notification to late-breaking authors\n9 December 2026: early registration deadline\n16 to 20 March 2027: conference\, in Barcelona and online\n\nRegistration\nRegistration is open\, for attending in Barcelona or online\, with early rates available until 9 December 2026. Group registration is also available. \nCan’t wait until March? Catch up on last year’s meeting with our AD/PD 2026 highlights podcast and the poster talks playlist. \n\nClick Here

SUMMARY:Nanopore London Calling 2027
DESCRIPTION:Oxford Nanopore’s annual conference\, London Calling\, returns to Old Billingsgate in London from 18 to 20 May 2027\, and abstract submission is now open. \nLondon Calling brings together researchers using Oxford Nanopore sequencing to share new methods\, data analysis and real-world applications across science and healthcare. The programme mixes keynotes\, community talks\, interactive and discussion-led sessions\, masterclasses and posters. Tuesday 18 May is a virtual-only day\, while Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 May run live at Old Billingsgate with online participation too. \nIt is worth a look for dementia and neurodegeneration researchers. Long-read sequencing is increasingly used to pick up repeat expansions\, structural variants\, RNA isoforms and DNA methylation that short-read approaches can miss\, and to explore brain gene activity in Alzheimer’s. \nWhat’s on\nAlongside the main programme\, breakout sessions are organised around real application areas\, with small\, focused discussions. Last year’s Tech Hub covered data analysis\, clinical research applications\, high-throughput sequencing\, experimental design\, and sample and library preparation\, and drop-in Technical Zones focused on adaptive sampling\, transcriptomics and whole-genome sequencing. In person\, the Live Lounge offers hands-on time with the devices and one-to-one conversations with Oxford Nanopore’s experts. \nSubmit an abstract\nAbstract submission for London Calling 2027 is open until Friday 15 January 2027 at 23:59 UK time. Decisions will be sent to all applicants by the end of March 2027\, and details on how to take part\, including any available travel support\, will be shared with successful applicants. \nIf you are pulling one together\, our guide on how to write a powerful conference abstract is a good place to start\, and if you end up with a poster\, here’s how to sell your conference poster on the day. \nQuestions about abstracts go to the events team at events@nanoporetech.com. \nTickets\nVirtual tickets are free. In-person and online tickets for 2027 are due to go on sale soon. For reference\, in-person tickets for 2026 started at £499 on early bird\, with a student rate of £349\, and sold out. \nSubmit your abstract by Friday 15 January 2027 (23:59 UK time). \n\nSubmit an Abstract

SUMMARY:SCMND 2027: Stem Cell Models of Neurodegeneration
DESCRIPTION:The UK Dementia Research Institute hosts the second SCMND symposium\, bringing together the international community using stem cell models to understand and treat neurodegenerative disease. \nSCMND was created to fill a gap. Researchers working with iPSC and stem cell-derived models of neurodegeneration had no dedicated forum in which to compare approaches\, troubleshoot methods or find collaborators. This is the second meeting\, delivered as part of the Cure-ND network\, and it runs over three days in Edinburgh. \nThe programme includes three keynote speakers\, 32 session speakers\, three early career researcher talks\, 10 flash talks and four poster sessions\, with poster prizes awarded on the final day. Confirmed plenary speakers are Valentina Fossati (JAX-NYSCF)\, Steven Finkbeiner (Gladstone Institute) and Su-Chun Zhang (Sanford Burnham Prebys). \nWorth a look if you work with iPSC-derived neurons\, organoids or any stem cell-based model of neurodegeneration. Speakers and poster presenters are selected from submitted abstracts\, so the ECR talks\, flash talks and poster prizes are genuinely open rather than invitation-only. \nAbstract submission is open until 31 December 2026. Abstracts will be selected for posters\, three oral presentations and 10 flash talks\, and everyone who submits will hear whether they have a poster or a talk by 28 February 2027 at the latest. Posters can be up to A0 and must be in portrait orientation. Full details are on the SCMND poster information page. \nRegistration closes 5 May 2027. UK DRI members attend free. Registration is £300 for all other academic researchers\, £450 for non-academic attendees without a poster\, and £550 for non-academic attendees presenting a poster. An optional conference dinner on 19 May is a further £48. \nRegister via the University of Edinburgh\, or find out more on the SCMND website.
