SUMMARY:International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders
DESCRIPTION:The International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders brings together clinicians\, researchers\, healthcare professionals\, trainees and industry representatives working across Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. \nTaking place in Seoul\, the 2026 Congress will provide opportunities to hear about current research\, clinical practice and emerging approaches to diagnosing\, treating and supporting people affected by movement disorders. \nThe theme for the 2026 scientific programme is Understanding Aging in Movement Disorders\, examining how ageing influences disease mechanisms\, clinical presentation\, progression\, treatment and care. \nAbout the Congress\nThe annual Congress is organised by the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society\, a global professional society representing clinicians\, scientists and other healthcare professionals working in movement disorders. \nThe meeting aims to support the exchange of scientific and clinical knowledge\, encourage international collaboration and improve the diagnosis\, treatment and care of people living with Parkinson’s disease and related conditions. \nThe programme includes more than 60 educational and scientific sessions\, with content suitable for researchers and professionals at foundational\, intermediate and advanced levels. \nProgramme highlights\nThe Congress programme includes plenary lectures\, therapeutic sessions\, parallel presentations\, teaching courses\, applied skills sessions\, video-based case discussions\, oral presentations and e-posters. \nTopics relevant to dementia and neurodegeneration researchers include: \n\nAgeing and comorbidities in parkinsonism\nCognitive impairment in Parkinson’s disease\nNon-motor features of Parkinson’s disease\nEarly and prodromal Parkinson’s disease\nGenetics of Parkinson’s disease\nTau disorders\, including progressive supranuclear palsy and corticobasal degeneration\nNeuroimaging of parkinsonian disorders\nArtificial intelligence in movement disorders\nDigital health assessment\nPsychiatric complications in Parkinson’s disease\nMeasuring cognitive impairment\nSleep and parasomnias\nPalliative care in movement disorders\nEmerging therapeutics and clinical trial findings\n\nDelegates will also be able to attend sessions involving real patients and clinical cases\, the MDS Video Challenge\, Presidential Lectures and the MDS Keynote and Clinical Breakthroughs session. \nWorkshops and networking\nSpecial-interest workshops will cover clinical research methodology\, neurosurgery and paediatric movement disorders. \nThe Clinical Research Methodology Workshop will examine common methodological problems in movement disorders research and offer practical guidance on study design\, outcome measures and the interpretation of findings. \nNetworking events are planned for young delegates\, health professionals\, women working in movement disorders and basic scientists. Attendees can also take part in regional meetings\, society group meetings and other opportunities to connect with the international movement disorders community. \nAccessibility\nScientific sessions will offer real-time AI-generated captions and translations in more than 60 languages. \nWho should attend?\nThe Congress is aimed at: \n\nClinical and basic science researchers\nNeurologists and other clinicians\nNurses and allied health professionals\nResearch coordinators\nPsychologists and therapists\nPhD students\, trainees\, fellows and early career researchers\nProfessionals working in pharmaceutical and biotechnology organisations\n\nRegistration\nEarly registration rates are available until 30 July 2026. Regular registration will run from 31 July to 10 September 2026\, with onsite rates applying from 11 September. \nReduced registration rates are available for students\, junior participants\, basic scientists\, non-physician health professionals and eligible members living in low- and middle-income countries. \nRegistration includes access to scientific sessions\, e-poster sessions\, the exhibition\, delegate materials\, the Welcome Ceremony\, the MDS Video Challenge\, morning coffee breaks and recordings of plenary sessions following the meeting.
