This course shows you how to conduct research which is truly ethical. It also provides the opportunity for discussion of your own ethical dilemmas\, if you wish. \nThe course covers: \n\nResearch ethics in context – ethical breaches past and present\, ethics activism\, trauma-informed research\, debiasing\nPotential ethical pitfalls at each stage of the research process\, from question setting to aftercare\nHow to think and act ethically throughout research\n\nBy the end of the course participants will: \n\nRecognise the importance of context for ethical decision-making\nUnderstand why they need to think and act ethically throughout research work\nBe clearer about potential ethical pitfalls at different stages of the research process\nKnow how to approach ethical thought and action at any point in their research\n\nThis course is aimed at Doctoral students\, early career researchers (any discipline)\, practice-based/applied researchers and possibly government researchers and independent researchers. \nTHIS COURSE IS TAUGHT OVER TWO MORNINGS AND EQUATES TO ONE TEACHING DAY FOR PAYMENT PURPOSES. \nCost: \nThe fee per teaching day is: \n• £60 per day for registered students\n• £150 per day for staff at academic institutions\, Research Councils researchers\, public sector staff\, staff at registered charity organisations and recognised research institutions.\n• £350 per day for all other participants \nIn the event of cancellation by the delegate a full refund of the course fee is available up to two weeks prior to the course. SUMMARY:Catchup - Behavioural Change & Early Neurodegeneration
DESCRIPTION:Dementia research often focuses on memory and cognition\, but there is increasing recognition that changes in behaviour and mental state can be among the earliest markers of neurodegenerative disease. \nThis Salon Research Showcase session brings together researchers and the public for a 45 minute online session to explore current work on behavioural and psychological symptoms in people living with\, or at risk of\, dementia. \nIn this session\, Dr Byron Creese\, Senior Lecturer at Brunel University of London\, will discuss his research on managing behavioural and psychological symptoms in neurodegenerative conditions and how these symptoms might help with early diagnosis. Drawing on clinical and translational research\, he will outline key findings on neuropsychiatric syndromes\, emerging methods to detect subtle changes\, and the implications for care and future research directions. \n\nAttendees can expect a clear overview of current evidence\, links between behavioural symptoms and disease progression\, and time for questions and discussion.\n\n\n\nWatch the Recording
