22/66 HSDR Health Communication and public health messaging

National Institute for Health and Care Research HTA

The Health and Social Care Delivery Research HSDR Programme is accepting stage one applications to this funding opportunity.

The HSDR Programme aims to commission high-quality, well-designed research which will be carried out by effective and efficient research teams, providing findings which meet the needs of NHS and Social Care managers and leaders.

This call is for research into the most effective forms of health communication and public health messaging to use during a period of infectious disease/pandemic. The scope is not limited to COVID-19 patients and studies should be relevant to any infectious disease health communication and public health messaging. Several broad themes have been described within the commissioning brief, with examples of particular areas of interest for research. All research proposals should address the potential impact on health inequalities and equity of access, and the research should be co-produced.

This call is also supported by the Public Health Research and Health Technology Assessment Programmes, and therefore proposals are also welcomed which sit within the remit of two/all of the participating programmes.

In order to apply for this call you will need to carefully review the following documents:

All primary research projects are expected to establish a programme appointed Study Steering Committee and it is important that you read the TSC/SSC Guidance before completing your application. Costs incurred by this committee should be included in the budget as appropriate.
