The Development and Skills Enhancement Award (DSE) provides a maximum of 1 year of funding for post-doctoral NIHR Academy Members to gain skills and experience for the next phase of their research career. The Award provides a maximum of 1 year funding, which may be used on a part time basis of between 50% and 100% whole time equivalent. There is an expectation that host organisations will match the level of support provided by NIHR at a level of 50%. Industry partnerships

The NIHR would like to increase the number of people with the necessary skills and experience to work at the interface between Higher Education Institutes, industry and the NHS.

Therefore as part of this round, we are offering jointly funded NIHR Industry Partnerships with Videregen Limited and Sonosine.

Benefits of partnerships

Jointly funded Partnership Fellowships enable researchers to:

  • maintain and build a relationship with both the NIHR and a partner organisation
  • engage with and receive valuable input from patient groups, making the most of the public and patient engagement/involvement opportunities available
  • receive greater research exposure through a variety of media and communication channels
