The ESRC / Alzheimer’s Society Equalities in Dementia (EquaDem) Network Plus invites applications for its Project Funding Call, supporting innovative research that tackles inequalities in dementia diagnosis and care.
About the Fund
EquaDem will fund up to five projects, each receiving up to £16,000 for work lasting 12 to 18 months.
Projects will be funded at 80% of full Economic Cost (fEC), with the remaining 20% contributed by the host research organisation.
Who Can Apply
- Project leads must be eligible for UKRI funding and meet ESRC funding rules.
- Members of the EquaDem core team cannot apply as project leads but may be co-applicants.
- The call particularly encourages early and mid-career researchers to apply, with senior mentorship where appropriate.
What We’re Looking For
Applications should:
- Present a solution or pathway to reducing inequalities in dementia diagnosis or care.
- Demonstrate involvement of people affected by dementia and health and social care professionals in design and delivery.
- Include plans for dissemination to academic and non-academic audiences.
- Identify follow-on funding opportunities or pathways to further research.
Eligible Costs
Funding can support:
- Researcher salary (non-permanent posts)
- Research expenses such as transcription, surveys, or travel
- Public involvement and engagement
- Dissemination activities
Key Dates
- Submission deadline: 15 January 2026, 5pm
- Peer review: January – March 2026
- Decisions announced: March 2026
- Project start dates: 1 May or 1 June 2026
Successful teams will provide quarterly progress updates, present at the EquaDem Annual Conference, and contribute a short project blog for the EquaDem website.
