Alzheimer Europe the umbrella organisation of 41 national Alzheimer’s associations from 36 European countries is seeking an experienced Communications Officer.

The work address is in Senningerberg, Luxembourg and flexible working hours and teleworking will be offered. as per teleworking policy and law, occasional telework should not exceed 10%.

Salaries and careers

The salaries of Alzheimer Europe staff members are determined according to the careers and grades fixed in the organisation’s Financial Regulations and in accordance with the below salary table. Salaries are expressed in points and the value of the point is fixed according to the collective agreement of the social sector in Luxembourg (The value was: 22,82999€ on 1 January 2025).

The Communications Officer and Finance Officer are employed in career U1 and the conference coordinator in career S. Newly employed staff members will start their career at grade 1, unless their previous work experience warrants a higher level.

Employees benefit from annual advancements in salary grades and will be awarded an end of year allowance which amounts to half a thirteenth month.

As the Communications Officer, you will:
  • Contribute to the organisation’s monthly e-newsletter and quarterly Dementia in Europe magazine (writing, editing and proofreading).
  • Maintain and update the organisation’s website using the content management system Drupal.
  • Support the management of social media accounts (X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook) and development of the BlueSky account for the organisation.
  • Plan, create, and schedule engaging posts across all these social media platforms, to support the organisation’s campaigns, events and publications.
  • Develop high-quality visual assets using Adobe Photoshop, Canva, and similar tools for campaigns, social media, and events.
  • Edit and produce videos using Adobe Premiere Pro and manage the organisation’s video content on YouTube & Vimeo.
  • Help plan and execute communications around the organisation’s Annual Conference.
  • Contribute to press releases (writing and disseminating).
  • Help to maintain and grow the organisation’s contacts with the media, by:
    • keeping a database of media contacts
    • engaging with media contacts regularly to share press releases, publications, campaigns, and other news related to our Annual Conference and other events and activities.
  • Contribute to the communications strategy of the organisation, particularly through the use of analytics for social media and impact reporting.

You should have the following experience and qualities:

  • Completed university education and/or significant experience in a similar position (a university education in communication or journalism would be an advantage).
  • Mother tongue / equivalent in English (knowledge of other EU languages would be a plus).
  • Excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and strong proofreading and editing skills.
  • Experience of managing and growing social media channels, including content scheduling and analytics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Advanced skills in graphic and video content creation, such as Adobe Suite (Premiere Pro, InDesign, Photoshop) and Canva will be considered an advantage.
  • Experience of website development and design. Proficiency in CMS platforms such as Drupal and good understanding of HTML will be considered a plus.
  • A keen sense of responsibility and initiative.
  • Ability to work closely with colleagues across various teams, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel abroad for meetings, conferences, and networking opportunities.
