University of Aberdeen is delighted to advertise 3 fully funded 4-year PhD studentships, supported by the Dunhill Medical Trust. You will be part of an inter-disciplinary cohort of students at the University of Aberdeen to look at ‘Building interventions to improve quality of life for older people’. Project 1: Intergenerational communication: understanding and supporting social interactions between younger and older adults. Lead supervisor: Prof Louise Phillips.

Project 2: Supporting future care decisions for older people. Lead supervisor: Dr Stephen Makin.

Project 3: Improving health behaviour and independence in older adults with a cognitive training intervention. Lead supervisor: Dr Katharina Schnitzspahn.

Funding:

These studentships are funded for 48 months full time (or up to 96 months part-time). Funding includes:

• Stipend based on UKRI rates (£16,062 for the 2022/23 academic year)
• UK Level Tuition Fees
• Research and Training Costs

Academic Eligibility:

Applicants to this studentship are expected to have or achieve a minimum of a 2.1 honours degree (or equivalent).

-All degree transcripts and certificates (BSc and MSc, where applicable). Official translations are required where English is not the original language
-Cover letter for each project you wish to apply for, addressed to the lead supervisor (see application form)
-A copy of your academic CV
-Proof of settled or pre-settled status in the UK, where relevant
-Contact details of 2 referees (please see application form for more information)
