The Department of Primary Care and Mental Health, within the Institute of Population Health, is expanding its lecturing team and looking for a high achieving early career researcher and future leader in their field to enhance research activity aligned with clinical psychology. The post holder will contribute to research and teaching in clinical psychology at a time of national expansion of doctoral training places in clinical psychology and growth in our department.

We expect clear evidence of post-doctoral research experience, a record of peer reviewed outputs, and an upward trajectory in research activity aligned to academic clinical psychology. You will be expected to produce high quality research outputs, and actively lead and collaborate on grant applications and cross-departmental research. We welcome applicants with experience in qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies, experience using mixed methods would be particularly beneficial. Applicants’ research may complement existing areas of strength in mental health and global mental health, eating disorders, older adults and dementia, clinical forensic psychology, and health psychology, or contribute new expertise.

The Doctorate in Clinical Psychology is a well-established and recently recommissioned programme with a commitment to further growth and increased intake. The programme includes academic, research, and clinical components, with all trainees undertaking a doctoral level piece of research that is aligned with the core research themes in the Department of Primary Care and Mental Health and wider Institute. The post holder will undertake a varied range of duties on the DClinPsychol programme, contributing to teaching and project supervision. We are committed to involving service users and carers in all our activities, including research, and welcomes applications from those with service user or carer experience.

At the end of year three, you will be reviewed for confirmation in a permanent academic position.
