Quality Assurance Manager

University of Surrey – Surrey Clinical Trials Unit & Clinical Research Facility

The University of Surrey has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Manager to oversee the maintenance and delivery of an effective quality management system within Surrey Clinical Research Facility (CRF) and supporting the associated clinical research functions within the Clinical Research Building.

Surrey CRF is led by Medical Director Dr Hana Hassanin and conducts clinical trials in a variety of therapeutic areas, including oncology and vaccine studies.

The CRF is based in the Clinical Research Building on the Manor Park campus at the University of Surrey and additionally hosts Surrey Sleep Research Centre, UK Dementia Research Institute Living Lab, Surrey Clinical Trials Unit and the Surrey Heartlands Health Tech Accelerator. The co-location of these facilities and functions puts the Clinical Research Building at the heart of the clinical research and digital health agendas within the University, encouraging cross-faculty and external collaborations through focused facilities and expertise.

The role is essential in supporting high quality clinical research activities within the CRF, ensuring that they are conducted in accordance with European Clinical Trial Regulations, UK and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as applicable, and ensuring quality processes are efficiently managed across the units co-located in the Clinical Research Building

The successful candidate will take a leading role in ensuring the clinical studies and underpinning Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) remain compliant with applicable regulatory standards via coordinating the annual audit programme, developing and reviewing processes, managing deviations/incident investigations, and liaising with research teams, They will be the point of contact to coordinate any Sponsor audits or regulatory inspections of the CRF. They should be well organised, conscientious and diligent with a strong track record in quality management (ideally in clinical research), and enthusiastic in helping to shape processes which will ensure the success of the developing unit.

The recent award of NIHR funding to establish a joint NIHR Clinical Research Facility with the adjacent Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust to be led by Dr Hassanin offers exciting prospects for expansion of the facility with our NHS partner.

In addition to salary the successful applicant will receive a generous annual leave entitlement and excellent development opportunities. They also offer an exclusive discounted membership package to all our staff for the Surrey Sports Park and on-site nursery.
