University College London seeks a Senior Communications Officer to join its team working on bicentennial communications, and activities for students and staff.

We are UCL: a diverse community with the freedom to challenge and think differently. From cancer research to climate change, dementia to social inequality, the world is facing huge challenges and we’re determined to solve them.

There has never been a more exciting time to join VPEE, Office of the Vice-President (External Engagement), as we plan for our biggest engagement campaign and support the delivery of our bicentennial programme in 2026. Our team is exceptionally ambitious, creative and passionate, working together to achieve remarkable things with a global impact. We would love you to be part of this exciting journey and our success.

Equity, diversity and inclusion is important to us. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone is encouraged to give their best in a place where their unique experiences, perspectives and skills are seen as valuable assets.

About the role

This is a fixed-term contract until January 2027, available for secondment.

As Senior Communications Officer (UCL200), you will support the development and delivery of ongoing bicentennial communications, its activities for students, staff, leadership and other key stakeholders. You’ll be part of the VPEE Communications team, working closely alongside the UCL200 team.

Working across the VPEE Communications team, Students’ Union and Advancement Office, you’ll lead a communications campaign telling stories of our students, staff and alumni community through ‘Faces of UCL’ for our bicentenary.

We are happy to consider applications to work on a part-time, flexible and job share basis wherever possible (minimum 0.8 FTE – equivalent of 4 days per week, stated salary to be pro-rata).

This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 40% on site.

About you

We’re looking for an outstanding writer and communicator with experience delivering effective campaigns from concept to delivery. Organised and reliable, you’ll keep track of a demanding, fast-moving project requiring the delivery of a variety of communications collateral, both online and in print. You’ll have experience liaising with multiple stakeholders on all levels of seniority across an organisation and a confidence with diplomatically asking for content and collateral to strict deadlines.

You’ll have an exemplary writing style and a strong sense of how best to tell a story to an internal and external audience. Ideally, you’ll have experience of working with digital creators and/or videographers.

This role requires passion and enthusiasm for celebrating UCL’s 200th anniversary collectively and collaboratively.

We’re pleased to accept applications from individuals who possess transferable skills and experience from sectors outside of Higher Education.

Our people are our greatest asset and in return we provide an empowering environment where personal and professional growth is invested in. UCL offers a generous pension scheme and holiday allowance, plus closure days and bank holidays. Visit www.ucl.ac.uk/work-at-ucl/reward-and-benefits to find out more.
