The Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health program at the Global Brain Health Institute provides innovative training in brain health, leadership, and dementia prevention to a wide range of promising leaders from various professions, including medicine, science, business, law, social science, journalism and the arts.
Through their work, fellows are expected to emphasise local and global health inequities that need to be addressed by practitioners and policymakers, with the goal of reducing the scale and impact of dementia in local communities around the world.
Fellows benefit from:
- A residential 12-month fellowship with a base at the University of California, San Francisco or Trinity College Dublin
- One-to-one mentoring on projects aimed at advancing brain health
- Weekly courses on health economics, epidemiology, leadership, law and ethics, neuroscience, public policy, behavioral neurology, statistics, brain health, and dementia, among other topics
- Observation and participation in clinical cases
- Access to a network of researchers, clinicians, and policy makers for career-length mentoring
- Access to the communities of all Atlantic Fellows programs, which together create a global community to advance fairer, healthier and more inclusive societies
- Access to competitively awarded funds for pilot projects that could be completed in their home country upon completion of the fellowship
- A living allowance during the course of training
