
Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity, dedicated to making life-changing breakthroughs in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Our work is guided by scientific excellence, and we depend on volunteer reviewers to evaluate and recommend funding for cutting-edge research.
To support our wide range of grant schemes and strategic initiatives, we are seeking experienced researchers to join our Grant Review Board (GRB).
About the opportunity
The GRB recommends project and career development applications submitted to the response-mode programme for funding. Current GRB membership is listed on our website.
As part of the GRB, you are expected to:
- Participate in up to two in-person GRB meetings per year (each lasting two days)
- Review and score assigned applications before meetings as part of our triage process
- Join sub-panels for application discussions or Fellowship interviews (where relevant)
- Occasionally review strategic proposals outside of the response-mode schemes or provide expertise on funding policies and processes.

About you
We welcome applications from clinical and non-clinical scientists with a strong academic or industry background. Ideal candidates should have:
- Expertise in dementia research, including prevention, diagnosis, or treatment
- Experience in funding application review and an understanding of the grant review process
- A broad perspective on research, capable of assessing projects beyond their immediate field
- A commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in research.
