SUMMARY:ERC Grants Info Session for Researchers in Latin America and the Caribbean
DESCRIPTION:The European Research Council (ERC) and EURAXESS Latin America and the Caribbean are running a free online info session on ERC funding\, for researchers in Latin America and the Caribbean who want to apply for an ERC grant or join an ERC-funded team. \nThe webinar is aimed at researchers\, principal investigators\, postdoctoral fellows and research administrators. It will give an overview of the ERC funding opportunities coming up in 2026 and 2027\, with practical guidance on: \n\npreparing a competitive proposal\nbuilding interdisciplinary\, high-impact international research teams\nmaking the move towards independent research leadership\n\nThe session runs in English on Zoom on Thursday 15 October 2026\, from 16.00 to 17.15 CEST (3pm to 4.15pm UK time). \nERC grants are open to researchers of any nationality\, as long as the research is carried out at a host institution in Europe or an associated country (including the UK\, which rejoined Horizon Europe in 2024)\, so this is also a useful introduction for anyone further afield thinking about an ERC application. \nRegistration\nTaking part is free\, but you need to register in advance. \nRegister for the ERC info session \nMore details are on the EURAXESS event page. \nLooking for other opportunities? SUMMARY:Building ERC Capacity in Widening Countries
DESCRIPTION:Building the capacity to win an ERC grant starts long before you sit down to write a proposal. This free online webinar from the European Research Council (ERC) looks at how researchers\, and the institutions and national systems behind them\, can get ready for an ERC application\, with a focus on researchers in Widening countries. \nWidening countries are the EU member states and associated countries that have historically had lower success rates in Horizon Europe\, including much of Central and Eastern Europe\, Portugal and the Baltic states. The ERC is working to build a stronger pipeline of applicants from these countries\, and this session sets out the support available. \nThe session will cover: \n\nrelevant changes in the ERC Work Programme 2027\, and what future applicants need to know\nthe ERC Mentoring Initiative\, from both the mentee’s and the mentor’s point of view\nhow Visiting Fellowships and other support can help researchers prepare\nnational and institutional case studies from Portugal\, Poland\, Slovenia and Estonia\nfirst-hand experience from researchers who have gone on to ERC success\n\nSpeakers include Leszek Kaczmarek\, Chair of the ERC Working Group on Widening European Participation\, alongside ERC Executive Agency staff\, an ERC mentor from the Italian Institute of Technology\, the ERC-Portugal Programme\, the University of Warsaw’s international research office\, and ERC grantees from Ljubljana and Tartu. There is time for questions after each part of the programme. \nThe webinar is in English on Friday 23 October 2026\, from 9.30am to 12.20pm CEST (8.30am to 11.20am UK time)\, with a short break mid-morning. \nHow to join\nThere is no need to register. Join the webinar on the day using the link below. Places are limited to 1\,000 attendees\, and the session will be recorded and made available afterwards. \nJoin the webinar \nThe full agenda and speaker biographies are on the ERC event page. \nWorking towards your first big grant?
