Tell us a little about yourself:

I graduated from UCC medical school in Ireland in 2012. I am a neurology trainee who was awarded an Alzheimer’s Society Clinical Research Training Fellowship in 2018. I have completed a PhD at University College London investigating presymptomatic biomarkers of Alzheimer’s disease. I have now returned to clinical training in Ireland but maintain an active interest in research.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself:

I enjoy baking in my spare time.

Why did you choose to work in dementia?

I worked as a care assistant, caring for people living with dementia during university. This experience sparked my interest in the field.

What single piece of advice would you give to an early career researcher?

The important of seeking out mentors and colleagues for advice when you feel you are struggling and/or not sure of the next steps

What book are you reading right now? Would you recommend it?

Hell of a Book by Jason Mott – it’s pretty good so far
