Currently Senior Research Associate for SE Health.

Place of work / study:

Currently, SE Health. Formerly University of Bradford.

Area of Research:

Improving quality and safety of care in emergency departments for people living with Dementia.

How is your work funded:

Tell us a little about yourself:

I graduated in 2018 with my PHD in Dementia Studies after studying at the Bradford Centre for applied Dementia Research as part of their doctoral training centre on transitions in Dementia care. I lived in the UK for 7 years, completing my MSc [1] in Public Health and working in London as a health system transformation consultant before starting my PhD. I now live in Canada, and am working as a researcher for an organisation that provides home and community care for older adults.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself:

I have a dog that is half dachshund and half Labrador…she is very unique!

Why did you choose to work in dementia?

I had an existing involvement in patient safety research, and 2 very loved grandparents living with dementia. I had an experience in the emergency department where personal and professional collided and my grandmother experienced significant, preventable harm while receiving care in an emergency department. I knew her experience wasn’t isolated, so I took my “patient safety brain” and applied it in the world of dementia studies.
