Tell us a little about yourself:
I was born in Nigeria and relocated to the UK as a teenager. I have always been fascinated by the brain – how we think, learn and remember; and how these processes can be affected in disease/ alleviated therapeutically. I studied Neuroscience all the way through undergrad to PhD, then did my post-doc in neuroepidemiology. I am married to a man called Brain and we have a lovely daughter called Iris.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself:
I love the brain so much that I married a lovely man called Brain!
Why did you choose to work in dementia?
Personal reasons.
What single piece of advice would you give to an early career researcher?
I have several: Proactively seek collaborators (including amongst peers); Proactively seek out sponsor relationships, in addition to mentors; Join peer mentoring circles; Pilot grants are good to gain preliminary data and also great for CV; Supervise students and join professional groups
