Tell us a little about yourself:

I’m from Newcastle, studied Biology at York, worked with AstraZeneca, have been living in Edinburgh since I started my PhD in 2015. I love baking, eating the baked goods, and going to the beach with my dog Manohar (who is all the way from India).

Tell us a fun fact about yourself:

I once came third in a lookalike contest for myself. Oh no wait, that was Charlie Chaplin.

Why did you choose to work in dementia?

I did two rotations at the start of my PhD and though I had only done a little neuroscience in my undergraduate I loved learning more with Anna Williams (my supervisor) and knew I wanted to stay and make a career in this area.

What single piece of advice would you give to an early career researcher?

The people around you make all the difference: ask for help, look for support, and learn from expertise. Then, when you can, offer the same to others.

Also see lyrics from all songs on the Spotify playlist below!

What book are you reading right now? Would you recommend it?

I always read about 4 books at once! So I can always pick up whatever I’m in the mood for… Currently I am loving Sightlines by Kathleen Jamie [2] which is some gorgeous nature writing that transports me back to weekends spent in the Highlands.
