Area of Research:

I make, test, and culturally adapt psychosocial interventions and measures for people with dementia. For my PhD, I am developing and evaluating a 14-session and virtual version of Individual Cognitive Stimulation Therapy [2] (iCST) in Hong Kong and the UK. I also created and am testing fidelity measures for iCST and Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST).

How is your work funded?

I am funded by UCL’s Overseas Research Scholarship and Doctoral School Fellowship, among other grants/ scholarships. My project in Hong Kong was funded by the University of Hong Kong seed fund for basic research.

Tell us a little about yourself:

I am originally from Hong Kong but grew up/ studied in the UK and US. I founded and run a peer group for PhD/ doctoral student dementia researchers at UCL so we can support each other during the pandemic.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself:

If I had a superpower, I’d time travel.

Why did you choose to work in dementia?

My grandparents have dementia, so I can see how devastating it is for the people with dementia and their families.

What single piece of advice would you give to an early career researcher?

Remind yourself why you’re doing what you’re doing during challenging times.

What book are you reading right now? Would you recommend it?
