I have a strong interest in translational and person-centred dementia research. I have been fortunate to have worked on some amazing dementia RCTs including the Dementia- PersonAlised Care Team (D-PACT) project, which aims to develop and evaluate a system for dementia support based in general practice. I have also worked on a project exploring the Well-being and Health for People Living with Dementia (WHELD) in care home settings. Currently, I am working on a University of Exeter led project which is aiming to develop and evaluate a primary care TaIlored ManagEment of Sleep (TIMES) tool for people living with dementia or mild cognitive impairment.

Tell us a little about yourself:
My background is in neuropsychology, and I spent around three years working as an assistant psychologist in the NHS, including working on a specialist dementia ward offering assessment and treatment of organic mental health problems with dementia. I secured my first post-graduate research job in 2020 and I am really enjoying the dementia research world. I live in Newquay, Cornwall, with my partner and Georgian rescue dog Tibbi. I love to read and I love food (making it and eating it).
Tell us a fun fact about yourself:
I have recently taken up sea swimming (yes, in the winter!).
Why did you choose to work in dementia?
My grandad was diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia and it is this personal link that really drives me to be part of the dementia research community striving to improve the lives of those affected by the syndrome.
What single piece of advice would you give to an early career researcher?
Network with like-minded researchers. Not only will this provide you with a much-needed soundboard/support network, but it will also offer opportunities for collaboration and new learning. In my experience, no one has ever minded me contacting them to ask about their research/opportunities/help.
What book are you reading right now? Would you recommend it?
Voyeur by Francesca Reece [2]. It’s too early to tell as I am only a few pages in, I will let you know on my next blog!
