Name:

Dr Mica Clarke

Job title:

Researcher

Place of work / study:

University College London [1]

Area of Research:

Neuroimaging in frontotemporal dementia

Tell us a little about yourself:

I landed in neuroimaging research after gaining experience in different disciplines of neurodegenerative disease research all focused on identifying new ways of monitoring disease progression in frontotemporal dementia.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself:

When I was doing my A levels I thought I’d grow up to become an interior designer!

Why did you choose to work in dementia?

I volunteered with a dementia support group during sixth form and saw the effects of dementia on those with the disease and their families. I learned more about different dementias during my undergraduate studies and during my MSc I undertook a research project exploring cognition in neurodegenerative diseases. I learned where our gaps in knowledge were and became determined to study them.
