Tell us a fun fact about yourself:
I started a corona-hobby: learn how to play the Oboe. My teachers acted as if I was the most talented student they have. But now that live is returned to normal, I am not so good a student anymore.
Why did you choose to work in dementia?
I am super-intrigued about the brain and all its secrets. I always wanted to do applied research that can lead to some practical solutions to improve the wellbeing of people.
What single piece of advice would you give to an early career researcher?
Find a place to work that inspires you and stimulates you. And grab the opportunities as they pass by. You do not always know on forehand which opportunity will help you, so you have to grab a bit more. At the end, all investments will have a yield (at least as a learning!) and nothing is in vain.
What book are you reading right now? Would you recommend it?
A Dutch one : columns also from Sylvia Witteman [3]. They make me smile and fall asleep.
