Milbotix, the health-tech company behind the award-winning SmartSocks®, is proud to announce the launch of the SmartSocks®DISCOVERY Pioneers Competition 2025. The initiative is designed to stimulate innovative research into health, wellbeing, and care using the newly launched SmartSocks®DISCOVERY platform.
SmartSocks®DISCOVERY is a discreet, comfortable wearable that captures high-quality physiological and motion data, including electrodermal activity, pulse rate and variability, skin temperature, acceleration, and angular velocity. The technology offers researchers new opportunities to study dementia, movement disorders, sleep, stress, rehabilitation, and more – even in participants who cannot tolerate wrist-worn wearables.
The competition is open to students, researchers, and practitioners across fields such as health sciences, psychology, engineering, and computer science. Applicants are invited to propose visionary projects that demonstrate how SmartSocks®DISCOVERY can advance knowledge and practice in their domain.
Prizes
- A SmartSocks®DISCOVERY Kit will be awarded to the winner in each category.
- A SmartSocks®DISCOVERY Starter Kit will be awarded to the runner-up in each category.

- Competition opens: 1st October 2025
- Application deadline: 30th November 2025
- Winners announced: 31st December 2025
Winners and runners-up will receive their kits in January 2026, enabling them to begin projects in the new year.
