SUMMARY:Dementia Connect Basel 2026
DESCRIPTION:Dementia Connect Basel brings researchers and healthcare professionals together for a day of exchange between research and clinical practice in Basel. Co-organised by the Swiss Network for Dementia Research and Prof. Marc Aurel Busche of Universitäre Altersmedizin Felix Platter\, the meeting is designed to link the city’s memory clinics with its research institutes. \nThe scientific highlight is a keynote lecture from Prof. Henrik Zetterberg (University College London) on biofluid biomarkers in Alzheimer’s disease. His work has been central to developing fluid biomarkers for dementia and moving them into clinical use. \nParticipants are invited to contribute to the programme through short talks or poster presentations\, a good opportunity for early career researchers to share ongoing work and meet potential collaborators. The poster session runs alongside the afternoon coffee break. \nClinical site visit\nResearchers can join an optional clinical site visit at Felix Platter Hospital before the main programme\, with a behind-the-scenes look at diagnostics\, patient pathways and care in a specialist memory clinic. The tour is aimed at non-clinical researchers. Places are limited\, with priority given to local experts. \nProgramme – 6 November 2026\nChair: Prof. Marc Aurel Busche\, Universitäre Altersmedizin Felix Platter Basel \n\n09:15–09:30 Site visit registration\n09:30–11:00 Clinical site visit\n11:00–11:15 Dementia Connect registration (all other participants)\n11:15–12:00 Keynote: Biofluid biomarkers in Alzheimer’s disease – Prof. Henrik Zetterberg\, University College London\n12:00–13:00 Networking lunch\n13:00–15:00 Scientific exchange session: short talks from researchers\, healthcare professionals and industry\, including ProMental\, a pragmatic multidomain programme for dementia prevention (PD Dr. Anton Gietl\, University Psychiatric Hospital of Zurich)\n15:00–17:00 Poster session and coffee break\n\nAll sessions take place in the Auditorium Basilea\, Universitäre Altersmedizin Felix Platter\, Burgfelderstrasse 101\, 4055 Basel. \nKey dates\n\nTalk abstract submission: closed\nPoster abstract submission: 16 October 2026\nRegistration: 30 October 2026\n\nAttendance is free of charge.
