Tell us a little about yourself:

Currently, I oversee the International Research Grants Program [1] for the Alzheimer’s Association. Before joining  I was the project manager for MODEL-AD at University of California Irvine.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself:

I’m originally from Brazil and my favourite author is Dostoyevsky.

Why did you choose to work in dementia?

We are our memories and human connections, once we start losing that it’s just devastating.

What single piece of advice would you give to an early career researcher?

Network, network, network. Get involved in opportunities aside from the usual lab work and put yourself out there.

What book are you reading right now? Would you recommend it?

I’m reading The Trip: Andy Warhol’s Plastic Fantastic Cross-Country Adventure by Deborah Davis [2]. I would recommend if you like an easy read to learn the basics about Warhol’s life.
