Oxford Brain Diagnostics is looking for a part-time Chief Medical Officer, two to three days a week, to lead the clinical and evidence strategy for its MRI-based imaging biomarker of neurodegeneration – a role that can sit alongside an academic or clinical post. See more jobs.

Oxford Brain Diagnostics (OBD) is redefining how neurodegenerative disease is measured. Our proprietary Cortical Disarray Measurement (CDM®) technology uses standard MRI to quantify subtle changes in brain microstructure, creating objective measures with the potential to improve the characterization and longitudinal assessment of neurodegenerative disease.

As disease-modifying therapies become an increasingly important part of clinical practice, clinicians, researchers, health systems, and pharmaceutical companies need scalable, objective measures to better characterize disease, monitor progression, and evaluate therapeutic response.

We are seeking a Chief Medical Officer to help shape OBD’s clinical strategy and establish the company as a leader in quantitative brain health.

The Opportunity

The Chief Medical Officer will serve as OBD’s senior medical and clinical leader, working closely with the CEO, executive team, and Board of Directors.

This is a part-time executive appointment of approximately two to three days per week and may be particularly attractive to an established physician leader who wishes to maintain an academic, clinical, advisory, or other professional appointment alongside their work with OBD.

The CMO will shape OBD’s clinical and evidence strategy, guide product and clinical development, build relationships with leading investigators and pharmaceutical partners, and serve as a senior external representative of the company.

We are looking for someone who combines deep scientific and clinical credibility with the ability to translate emerging science into meaningful clinical applications.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead OBD’s medical, clinical and reimbursement strategy and help define the evidence required to support adoption of CDM across clinical care and pharmaceutical development.
  • Guide the clinical evidence roadmap, including study design, validation, publication strategy, and prioritization of new indications and applications.
  • Ensure evidence-generation plans support OBD’s broader regulatory, reimbursement, product, and commercial objectives.
  • Build relationships with leading clinicians, investigators, key opinion leaders, academic institutions, and pharmaceutical organizations.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to ensure OBD’s technology addresses clinically meaningful problems and integrates effectively into radiology, neurology, and research workflows.
  • Support strategic engagements with pharmaceutical companies, health systems, imaging providers, and other partners.
  • Represent OBD at major scientific conferences, advisory boards, industry forums, and strategic partner meetings.
  • Serve as OBD’s senior physician voice with the executive team, Board, investors, customers, and strategic partners.

Core qualifications:

  • MD or equivalent medical degree with specialist expertise in neurology or neuroradiology
  • Significant expertise in neurodegenerative disease and/or imaging biomarkers.
  • Strong record of scientific and clinical leadership, including peer-reviewed publications and presentations at major scientific meetings.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex science into clinically meaningful strategies.
  • Strong communication skills and credibility with scientific, clinical, and industry audiences.
  • Ability to operate effectively in an entrepreneurial, high-growth environment.

Particularly valuable experience includes:

  • Board certification, or international equivalent, in neurology or neuroradiology.
  • Expertise in Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, mTBI/CTE, or related neurological disorders.
  • Experience working with biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostic, or imaging technology companies.
  • Experience supporting pharmaceutical clinical development or biomarker use in clinical trials.
  • Familiarity with regulatory, evidence-generation, and reimbursement strategies for medical technologies.
  • Established relationships with leading investigators and key opinion leaders in neuroscience or neuroimaging.

What Success Looks Like

During the first year, the CMO will help establish a clear and prioritized clinical and evidence strategy for OBD; strengthen our network of leading clinicians, investigators, and scientific collaborators; advance high-value studies and publications; deepen relationships with pharmaceutical and strategic partners; and provide clinical leadership to our product and commercial strategy.

Most importantly, the CMO will help translate OBD’s scientific foundation into evidence and clinical applications that can improve how neurodegenerative disease is understood, measured, and ultimately managed.

Compensation

OBD offers a competitive compensation package appropriate to seniority of the appointment and part-time nature, including eligibility for equity and bonus.
