The Cleveland Clinic Genome Center seeks two Postdoctoral Research Fellows or junior faculty, wet or dry lab, to combine AI, multi-omics and real-world patient data in the search for Alzheimer’s disease genomics biomarkers and drug targets.
We are hiring 2 Postdoctoral Research Fellows or junior faculty (non-tenure track Assistant Professor) to join the Cleveland Clinic Genome Center (https://www.lerner.ccf.org/genomics-research/) directed by Dr. Feixiong Cheng at the Cleveland Clinic Research and Case Western Reserve University. The primary goal of the Genome Center is to create and combine tools from experimental systems biology assays (PMID:36217030 [Nature Biotechnology 2025 & 2023 [Journal Cover]), artificial intelligence (PMID:35411337 [Nature Machine Intelligence 2022]), genomics and multi-omics (Nature Neuroscience 2026 [in press]; PMIDs:33558758 [Nature Genetics 2021], 33514395 [Genome Biology 2021], and 33627474 [Genome Research 2021]), electronic health records (100 million electronic patient records, PMID:32984792 [Lancet Digital Health 2020]), network medicine (PMIDs:35572351 [Nature Aging 2021], 31375661, 30002366 and 30867426 [Nature Communications 2026a and 2026b, 2018, 2019a and 2019b]), to address the challenging questions toward better understanding of human complex disease and health, in particular for Alzheimer’s disease and brain health, which could have a major impact in identifying real-world big data-driven diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for precision medicine and drug discovery (PMIDs:36450252 [Cell Reports 2024 & 2022], 33852912 [Cell 2021], 36331056 & 36254161 [Alzheimer’s & Dementia 2023 and 2022], and 30988527 [Nature Neuroscience 2026 and 2019]). A competitive compensation and benefits package will be offered.
Highly motivated candidates (both wet and dry labs) will join our multiple institution- and federally funded research projects focusing on analyzing, visualizing, and mining data from real-world (e.g., EHRs) and experiments that profile the molecular state of human cells and tissues by interactomics (protein-protein interactions), functional genomics (CRISPRi/CRISPRa and Prime editing), transcriptomics, proteomics, radiomics, and metabolomics for disease biology and drug development. The postdoctoral fellow and junior faculty (Project Staff or Research Associate) will have great opportunities to collaborate with diverse groups of physicians, genetics, and computational/experimental biologists, and get access the large-scale patient data at the IBM-CC Accelerator Discovery Program (the first Quantum Computer at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus), Genomic Medicine Institute, Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute, Taussig Cancer Institute at Cleveland Clinic, The Cleveland Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (CADRC) at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, and the Case Western Reserve University.
Requirements:
- Wet lab: Strong experimental experiences in functional genomics (CRISPR and Prime editing) and patient iPSC-derived neuron/microglia/astrocyte models and brain organoids will be plus.
- Dry lab: Highly motivated candidates with a PhD/MD degree in bioinformatics, genome science, systems biology, biomedical informatics, computational biology, machine learning, data science, drug discovery, and related fields are encouraged to apply.
- Strong computational backgrounds (AI/ML foundation models), proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., R, Python, Perl, C++, Java) and knowledge of statistics and mathematics are required.
- Training experience in artificial intelligence (such as machine learning and deep learning), experience working in high computing cluster environment, experience working with Alzheimer’s Disease Sequencing Project (ADSP), TopMed, TCGA, ICGC, GTEx, 1000 Genomes, UK-biobank, ENCODE, or ExAC, PDB, or other large-scale DNA/RNA-seq (including bulk and single-cell/nucleus) data analysis is highly preferred.
- A good understanding of biology, genetics and genomics, cell signaling networks, gene regulatory networks, and human protein-protein interactome is also preferred.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
How to Apply:
Applicants should send a cover letter describing your research experience/skills and research statement/plan (2-3 pages), a curriculum vitae and the contact information of three referees to Dr. Feixiong Cheng (William Martin <MARTINW3@ccf.org>) with the subject line ‘Postdoc-Application – Your Name’ or ‘Junior Faculty-Application – Your Name’. Application Deadline: Positions are open immediately until December 31st, 2026 or filled.
To apply for this job email your details to MARTINW3@ccf.org.
