About The Barts Charity DTP
Queen Mary University of London is a Russell Group university based in East London. Its Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD) delivers world-leading translational biomedical research and is proud to offer five fully funded, four-year PhD studentships through the Barts Charity funded Doctoral Training Programme (DTP).
The Barts Charity DTP aims to produce researchers that understand health challenges relevant to the East London population who are motivated to continue to focus upon this underserved community as their careers develop beyond doctoral study.
PhD projects span the breadth of research across FMD, from laboratory-based research to bioinformatics, covering a wide range of areas of health and disease.
Students will join a supportive, cohort-based training programme, engaging with clinicians, patients and local communities while collaborating across disciplines. They will develop cutting-edge research, professional and transferable skills, alongside dedicated career development training to prepare them for their future careers.
The DTP is strongly aligned with Queen Mary’s 2030 Strategy and its ambition to become “the most inclusive university of its kind, anywhere.” We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and personal circumstances. Applicants are selected based on their potential to become, or contribute to, the world-leading biomedical research community of the future, as demonstrated through their application and interview, alongside their passion for research that can help improve the health and wellbeing of people in East London.
We particularly encourage applications from Black applicants and those from other ethnic minority backgrounds that are under-represented within STEM.
