EFAR Conference on the Biology of Aging
October 14 - October 16
The first Conference of the European Federation for Aging Research will bring together researchers from across Europe and beyond to discuss the biological processes that shape ageing, longevity and age-related disease.
Taking place in Cologne, the conference aims to encourage scientific exchange, strengthen collaboration between Europe’s ageing research communities and support early career researchers entering the field.
About the conference
The European Federation for Aging Research was established by the German Society for Aging Research, the Dutch Society for Research on Ageing, Nordic Aging and the British Society for Research on Ageing.
EFAR aims to connect researchers across Europe, promote ageing research, support the development of younger scientists and encourage policies that strengthen the field. Further national ageing research societies are also expected to join the federation.
For dementia and neurodegeneration researchers, the meeting may be particularly relevant to those investigating the biological mechanisms that connect ageing with cognitive decline, cellular dysfunction and age-related disease.
Programme
The scientific programme will include six main conference sessions featuring invited speakers and presentations selected from submitted abstracts.
The conference will open on Wednesday 14 October, followed by two scientific sessions and an evening poster session with food and refreshments. Thursday will include three further scientific sessions and an EFAR members’ meeting. The final session will take place on Friday morning, followed by concluding remarks and the presentation of poster prizes.
Early career researchers were particularly encouraged to submit abstracts for talks and posters. Abstract submissions closed on 30 June 2026.
