Sleep in Neurodegenerative Disease – Dr Simon Schreiner
November 12 @ 11:00 am - 11:50 am

In this Swiss Network for Dementia Research webinar, Dr Simon Schreiner (University Hospital Zurich) will look at sleep in neurodegenerative disease, from everyday clinical practice through to biomarkers and interventions.
Sleep–wake disturbances are common in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Dr Schreiner will set out how these problems present in clinic and how they are managed, before turning to the growing evidence that sleep and neurodegeneration influence each other in both directions, including findings from his own studies.
This webinar will focus on:
- the clinical features and management of sleep–wake disturbances in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease
- the two-way relationship between sleep and neurodegeneration
- sleep-based biomarkers for earlier detection
- sleep-targeted interventions that could support future disease-modifying approaches
The session is part of the Dementia Update – Clinical Series, run with Swiss Memory Clinics for clinicians and healthcare professionals in dementia care. It is hosted by Dr Elena Wenz (Inselspital Bern), runs for 50 minutes including Q&A, and is held in English. It starts at 12:00 Swiss time (11:00 UK time) and is free to attend, with the joining link sent after registration.
