The Risks and Benefits of Using AI in Research
October 12 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

A free online session from the School of Advanced Study, University of London, on how to use artificial intelligence in your research without running into trouble when you write it up.
Led by Professor Susan Breau of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies and the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, the session discusses the School of Advanced Study’s own AI policy and the issues involved in conducting and writing up research that engages with AI. It covers the real benefits AI can bring to the research process, alongside the risks that come with citing it and writing up work that has relied on it.
It is part of the SAS Research Training series, which runs weekly through the autumn. Sessions are aimed at postgraduate researchers in the humanities, but questions about how to use AI responsibly apply across every discipline, including dementia research.
Booking
All are welcome. The session is free, but you need to book. It runs online via Zoom, and joining details are emailed to registered attendees 24 hours before it starts. Questions can go to kremena.velinova@sas.ac.uk.
