Cambridge offers a PhD project developing in silico models to predict clinical severity and progression in neurodegenerative tauopathies.
This project will build on work within the lab developing in silico mathematical models of neurodegenerative disorders associated with the tau protein. The model is validated against real-world data from our cohort of people with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Corticobasal Syndrome, and Frontotemporal Dementia using neuroimaging and neuropathology data. This project will focus on developing the models to make predictions of clinical severity and progression, including capturing the heterogeneity of clinical presentations. This will lead to a disease model suitable for evaluating and predicting the effect of novel disease modifying treatments on clinical presentation and progression.
Project Aims
- Integrate clinical outcomes into predictions from generative models of neurodegenerative tauopathies.
- Test model predictions in the evaluation of potential disease modifying treatment trials.
