Research Assistant (0.8 FTE) at Queen’s University Belfast: support the In-Touch palliative care intervention for people with advanced dementia in care homes.


This Research Assistant position (0.8 FTE) is based in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Queen’s University Belfast. The post holder will be an active member of the research project assisting in the implementation and evaluation of In-Touch: Implementation of a person-centered palliative care intervention to improve comfort, quality of life and social engagement of people with advanced dementia in Care Homes.

This role will involve engagement with nursing homes across the Belfast and Greater Belfast area, including coordinating and undertaking on-site data collection, conducting qualitative interviews, and contributing to data analysis and dissemination activities.

The post holder will work with the Principal Investigator and wider research team, contributing to the successful implementation of the project. They will also engage with a range of stakeholders, including nursing home staff and partners.

About the person:

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Completed a degree in nursing, an allied health profession, psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant experience conducting health and/or social care research in community-based settings.
  • Experience working to organise/conduct data collection activities in participating research sites.
  • Knowledge and experience of a range of research methods, including both qualitative and quantitative approaches.
