Medicines Discovery Catapult
Tell us a little about yourself:
I’m responsible for managing the Psychiatry Consortium. I’m a translational scientist with over eight years of experience in drug discovery research, spanning both academic and industry settings. Drawing on my scientific background and experience working with SMEs, academic research groups, and pharmaceutical companies, I provide in-depth support to our collaborators to help develop and deliver our project portfolio. Alongside my role at the Psychiatry Consortium, I’m also a member of the Greater Manchester HRA Research Ethics Committee and a strong advocate for involving patients throughout the drug discovery process.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself:
I am an avid interior designer!
Why did you choose to work in dementia:
My role sits in Neuroscience more broadly; not only do I lead the work of the Psychiatry Consortium, but I have been briefly involved in the Dementia Goals programme. I have (unfortunately) seen first-hand the impact Dementia and Psychiatric illnesses have had on family members, and this makes me even more passionate to work in this area.
What single piece of of advice would you give to an early career researcher?

What book are you reading right now? Would you recommend it?
Listening to* (frequent night wakings with a little one = Audible membership!) Ultra-Processed People by Chris van Tulleken. It is a thought-provoking dive into the imapct of ultra-processed foods on our health and society. It certainly challenges readers to rethink their food choices and consider the implications of the modern diet!
