Tell us a little about yourself:
I continue my full-time clinical role as a community Old Age Psychiatrist. I’m passionate about raising the profile of Old Age Psychiatry and have actively worked in areas including dementia, delirium and depression. Since 2014, I’ve been dedicated to raising delirium awareness, regionally and globally, using social media and networking to foster a social movement, notably by creating the hashtag #icanpreventDELIRIUM. My educational video on delirium on YouTube has garnered over 147K views (Delirium Superimposed Dementia and how to manage).
I’ve been honoured with several awards over the years. In 2017, I received the Inspirational Leader of the Year award from the Northeast Leadership Academy for my delirium work, and the Royal College of Psychiatrists named me Psychiatric Communicator of the Year. Additionally, my team won Psychiatry Team of the Year in 2016 and 2018. I was shortlisted for Psychiatrist of the Year in 2021 and again in 2024. In recognition of my innovative remote ECG project during the pandemic, I received the Innovation Champion award at the Bright Ideas in Health Awards. Most recently, in 2025, I was honoured with the President’s Medal from the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
