Caribbean Brain Health Summit 2026

Amagi Health is launching the Caribbean Brain Health Summit, a week-long regional convening on brain health, dementia and ageing, based in Kingston, Jamaica, with activities across the Caribbean and its diaspora.
The summit marks the first year of a new regional initiative to put dementia, ageing and brain health at the centre of Caribbean policy and practice. Rather than importing a model from elsewhere, the aim is to surface and connect the work Caribbean people and organisations are already doing, then build shared regional infrastructure to support it.
It’s deliberately broad. Alongside researchers and clinicians, it brings in voices from business, technology, the creative sector, civil society and communities, including people living with dementia and carers managing care across islands and continents. Anchor activities will run in host countries and diaspora hubs, supported by local organisations.
Why it matters for researchers
The Caribbean is ageing fast, and it’s under-represented in global conversations about brain health and dementia. If your work touches on African Caribbean populations, health inequalities or dementia risk reduction, this is a chance to connect with the people building the region’s research and policy agenda from the ground up.
The summit is the public-facing start of the programme. A scientific meeting follows in Kingston in February 2027: the Population-Level Approaches to Dementia Risk Reduction (PLADRR) Meeting, bringing together researchers, clinicians and policymakers. It builds on the PLADRR meeting in Auckland in February 2025 and on the NIA and University of Michigan HCAP infrastructure, with a focus on Caribbean and Caribbean diaspora researchers and early career researchers. There are opportunities there for UK-based researchers with existing Caribbean collaborations or diaspora-relevant work.
