Tell us a little about yourself:

I am a mum, wife, activity coordinator and I am studying my MSc in health psychology. I really enjoy teaching Yoga and Pilates as I see the immediate benefits it can offer people in response to life stressors. I really enjoy exploring how life is experienced through the body, particularly to try and understand how life experience may extend beyond what we already understand is stored solely in the brain.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself:

I raced karts as a child and always wanted to be a racing driver!  I can also write quite well with my toes!

Why did you choose to work in dementia?

When I began my training as a mental health nurse, my first placement was working with people experiencing dementia. It was an unexpected attraction I suppose. I had always imagined myself working with young people. However, what this placement did is it opened my eyes and heart to a world that I knew so little about. It made me appreciate the importance of the present moment. I hope that I can positively contribute to the lives of those experiencing dementia for the rest of mine.
